I'm looking at getting a 120gb 360 elite to replace my old premium, but I have some concerns....

1> My old premium gets the frustrating "disc is unreadable" errors, especially on music streamed RPG's like mass effect and lost odyssey. Is the drive on the 360 any more reliable?

2> Are the elites really more reliable? Or am I still going to be worried about the deadly rrod appearing randomly?

3> Do they still run as noisily as the old units? I mean the internal fan humming like a chainsaw with flu.

4> Finally I'm assuming that to transfer my data from one to the other, the easiest way would be to just recover my gamertag on the new machine, then download everything onto the new hard drive - not including game saves I know but everything else...?

Thanks for any replies guys :)

Hey guys, I have a pro model at the moment, but I am looking at getting an elite and giving my old 360 to my brother. How would I go about transferring my gamertag over to my new elite? Is it just a case of recovering it from Live then downloading all the stuff I had before? Or is there a cable or something that will directly transfer the data between the two hard drives?

Also are there as many problems with the Elite? The only one thats busting my box at the moment is the disc read error situation (and the fact it sounds like a chainsaw with flu). I've heard that there's a different dvd drive on the elite.

I have to admit, I'm just onto the 2nd disc now and I'm struggling to muster up the stamina to carry on with it. It seems to have *tons* of cutscenes and the difficulty level jerks about from boringly easy to impossibly hard without warning. I have enjoyed the most part of what I've played so far, but I think I'll end up pushing through to the end as quick as possible and then not bothering with it after that. I find it just doesn't have that *compelling* factor about it.

The single player campaign in GoW 1 was made pointlessly harder by the crap AI of your team-mates. Anyone else spend more time running back to Dom because he'd hit the deck than actually fighting? :P

Games that are apprarently X360 exclusives now will soon get ported to the PS3 I reckon. Its been done plenty of times before. I've never used a PS3 or seen the network so I cant comment on that.

Myself I'd say if you're buying it for just 3 games, then no. I would have to have the cash to buy the 360 and fund games for both systems continuously before I bought a 2nd console.

If it were me bud - I'd stick to the PS3. Just my opinion ofc.

Its a demo. Thats all.

On full release I would imagine the lag issue will be resolved. I think it doesn't look a million miles away from BF2:Modern Combat on the PC, and I for one am looking forward to it :) Its about time the 360 had an FPS that wasn't just a glorified deathmatch.

Does anyone know if it will be utilising Dice's servers? It must do coz standard Live hookup isn't going to cut the player numbers surely?

And........ "I'm not buying it coz you can't go prone!"

Thats probably the stupidest reason I ever heard to totally disregard a game :)

I've played and completed both games and I'm an RPG veteran. In my own humble opinion, Mass Effect was just more interesting, more challenging (without being frustrating), had the better story, the more engaging and tactical combat, and characters you actually wanted to learn about.

Oblivion didn't.
