Assuming the editor is still there, I don't see many variations coming in the FarCry 3 version: it already seems polished and streamlined enough to be left alone. More than the multiplayer, I'm interested in the single player part of the game: all they need is to include a nice story and characters and diversify the missions a bit more, maybe allow fast travel between unlocked safehouses. Also, weapon customization (a la Army of Two 40th day) would turn it into the ultimate gun nut dream. I really hope Ubi delivers with this one.

I'm defiantly not going to deny that the single player for Far Cry 2 has problems. I do hope that the single player is much better in Far Cry 3.

Like I said, I wouldn't mind if Ubi Soft recycles the map editor from Far Cry 2, it's great as it is. But, I would like to see some new features, like, the ability to create single player missions like in TimeSpiltters.

Other games with a level editor has done some recycling, like the Tony Hawk games.

The map editor for Far Cry 2 is where I spent most of my time in. When I found out about Far Cry 3's announcement, I was wondering about how the map editor was going to turn out.

To be honesty with you, I wouldn't mind if Ubi Soft recycled everything from the last game, with some new features:

Concrete floors as paint textures - For those who don't want to create dirt roads, I imagine that some of you use the concrete platforms and sink it into the ground. But that obviously takes up memory, so why not have concrete as a paint texture? Paint textures doesn't take up any memory, and it'd be great to have concrete as one of the options.

More Furniture - There's no TVs!

Walls and Roofs - This is something we want when we create our own unique buildings. Having a variety of walls of roofs would be a good inclusion.

An increase in memory - I don't know if this was on the PC version, but one 360 and PS3, the amount of memory that was in the map editor is up to 40,000. That's a good size, but I don't know if it's possible to increase, but if it is, it'd be a nice add on.

Do you keep getting messages that say this, "We're waiting for you in Far Cry 2" from players of the multiplayer?

I've been playing the online multiplayer and have been getting the exact same message from multiple users. It's kind of weird if you ask me.

I just want another Tony Hawk game that goes back to its roots. That would satisfy fans of the old games, but I don't think for everyone else. :?

The Tony Hawk franchise was one of my favorite franchises, it was also one of the biggest thing going on in video games in the late 90's and early 2000's. The latest game, Tony Hawk Shred, has bombed, only 3000 units were sold in its first week, and most critics are not even considering to review that game.

There hasn't been a game where I gave the same level of obsession after THPS 3.

Some people have said that the formula grew tiresome, but what those people keep neglecting is that the franchise is own by Activision, the same company that treats their franchises like live-stock by milking them every year until people don't care anymore all thanks to the direction that's lead by Bobby Kotick; prime example: Guitar Hero, the appeal is not what it once was and the sells are deteriorating. Also, people suspect that Call of Duty will head in the same direction as Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero.

The games after Tony Hawk Underground, were essentially the same game. The features like create a skater and park editor are almost the same, the only difference with them is that NeverSoft took out all of the objects that you can use for your skater or park and replace them with new ones. And they also have flaws and limitations, other games did those features much better than the Tony Hawk games, heck, the graffiti editor was done much better in Jet Set Radio Future than in Tony Hawk Underground 2; and of course, NeverSoft never improved those features, game after game.

I would like to see the series return to its original form, but introduce a few twist here and there at least. Just make the game much better than the previous installments. Using a plastic skate board to play the game was just a stupid idea and a waste of two years of development time. Taken the original formula and throwing it out the window was never the answer, it was just the fact that there has been so many of the same games that was released year after year.

There is the Skate series. Skate is a good series, but it's not at all that much better than Tony Hawk. The success of the Skate franchise was just good timing. Games like Thrasher: Skate and Destroy, and Grind Session, two skate boarding games that came out when Tony Hawk's Pro Skaters made its way onto the scene and became a phenomenon, got lost in the shuffle. I have a feeling that Skate could have got lost in the shuffle as well if it debut when Tony Hawk was in solid form. The people that are now playing Skate are probably not playing it in the same obsessive way that they played Tony Hawk, like I said, Tony Hawk Pro Skaters 1 - 3 was a phenomenon.

Agreed. Sonic Adventure was a mess, and was responsible for starting so much of what has dragged the franchise down over the years (extraneous characters, long sections of non-Sonic gameplay, "speed" sections that feel automatic, horrendous voice acting).

Sonic Colors seems to address some of these problems, but it's not quite there yet. It seems to be good, but not truly great. I'm still waiting for the next great Sonic game... 16 years and counting...

The_Pig_Hostage

Let me guess, you really love saying "Sonic sucks"?

Pretty much. Just like Mario, if you slap Sonic's name on something it'll sell gangbusters instantly, regardless of good of bad critical reception. Though the positive reviews will probably help it along further, if only a little.

Lucianu

The difference being that Mario doesn't get bad critical reception. If you eliminated brand recognition from the equation, Mario games would still be awesome, whereas Sonic games would still be crap.

Sonic is cooler then that fat old plumber though.

Heh,

LOL!

So Sonic Colors has been getting a good reception from critics, but I can just imagine in a few years that critics will change their opinions and say "Sonic 3D doesn't work." As for everybody else, they will probably act like this game doesn't exist just so they can say "Sonic sucks" some more. Just like how it is with Sonic Adventure 1, 2 and Unleashed.

I don"t know, what do you guys think?

Lucianu

As far as i know, most think that Sonic Adventure is the greatest 3D Sonic game ever made, i don't know why you think people forgot about it.

Ryan Davis gave the Gamecube version of Sonic Heroes a 7.5, and then said that Sonic in 3D doesn't work.

I said from the very beginning my experience here is going to be no better than GiantBomb, as this site also has grammar Nazi, flamers, trolls, and users that have bad reading comprehension. Good to know that I was right! :D

Anyways, will G4 ever hire a woman that does know something?
