game looks to have a lot of cool stuff, but the actual units and battle mechanics themselves look about as primitive as the first rts's to ever come out.
Its just one blob of un-microable units vs the other.
Might brush some decent ideas from time to time and some cool subject matters, but he never really seems to fully understand the deeper concepts he's trying to use to sound intelligent or will just use the first page of a great idea to sell his point and ignore, forget or completely misinterpret the real points the sources he's pulling from were trying to make to begin with.
don't mean to rip on you cam, but you need to go deeper and think about your conclusions more...
@drakoulis7 I appreciate your opinion, and some new games are cool, but just turning the difficulty up usually doesn't change the gameplay all that much. Really in this day and age most of those games just come down to muscle memory reactions anyways and not your decision making like halo on legendary.
If im going to play a game today its got to be something more involved not less. I play games like Arma, where theres a lot of other elements to consider at every moment then where my reticle is on the screen. Oddly enough I actually just picked up dark souls but haven't played it yet, but hear that one is epic and requires a lot from the player.
But f2p games I still cant relate to at all. Ive played several more since I originally wrote that statement, and have even more so come to the realization that f2p games are a flat out conflict of interest to the game developer. Theres just too many things they can try to do to weasel money out of the community while providing less game, and destroying any kind of progression and actual skill involved.
Perhaps saying all new games today are terrible is a bit of an overstatement, but there really are so many bad games today, and worse players that play them that it doesn't compare to ANY video game era before it by a fair margin.
as an angry gamer I appreciate this subject, but does anyone really think this is just an increasing culture of pure hate? Do we believe that this is a natural occurrence and not to pay attention to anyone these days, or is the community trying to say something as a whole?
I for one as a kid grew up in an era where there was ground breaking game design coming out all the time. And while recently for the first time in years there are at least some prospective games on the horizon again I might actually look forward to, its been a very long and dark period for video games in general. and as wall street takes more and more of an interest the quality of games goes down significantly.
Games used to be made by a couple of friends in their garage inspired by an idea and willing to go the extra mile, now they are handled by some suit with a calculator trying to figure out the least amount of product he can actually get away with. Its a simple case of you cant mass produce art and have quality, not a problem with the community itself. The community is just a mirror.
all im saying is that back in the day instead of hearing about 'this game sucks and why' there was so much more along the lines of 'this game is so cool because....'
