The problem with what youre saying is that a monitor is only for a PC, but the TV has multiple uses. I bet you've always had a TV, even when you did't have a system to hook up to it, but you've never owned a monitor without a computer.

I agree, but they'll just come back arguing that you can hook a gaming pc up to a tv.

Or the fact that you can do 20x as many things on a PC as you can on a tv, thus evening out the playing field. Don't include the price for the monitor if you don't for the tv. Plus, every pc gamer I know uses a monitor through 3 or 4 new PC builds, so its not as bad as you think.
