[QUOTE="DaAznSaN"][QUOTE="Demodocus"]

Let me share this with you guys.It is the a quote from the 2003 GOTY, the one in which another safe Nintendo franchise won:

"In fact, our protracted deliberations over this award category mostly focused on a bitter struggle between two games, neither of which was The Wind Waker. They were, on one side, the epic, ambitious, and outstanding achievement that is Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for the Xbox, and, on the other side, the wonderfully creative, incredibly well put together, immensely appealing, and pleasantly surprising Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. Compelling arguments were raised both for and against both of these games. But eventually, through our deliberations, we doubled back to Zelda."

Compromises happen.That doesn't mean SMG is a bad game or something, on the contrary, it is a great game.But it won not because it was the best, but because it was the most polished game and hardest to argue against.

Demodocus

So basically any game that wins GOTY is a compromise?

No, just with the way winners are chosen in close categories sometimes compromises are made.

Oh I get it. Since this year has so many contenders, whatever won GOTY has to be a compromise. That means there is no actual GOTY. Got'cha.

No we cannot admit there was a compromise because there is no proof of that.

Well, it's not like SMG won't win GOTY on other sites either.

Racing sims. Love crazy racers, and I have no problem with realistic cars. I just don't like it if it's too realistic. Next would be sports games, but only realistic ones. I like arcade-styled sport games.

I played it for two years. Stopped in September when school picked up again. I love it, and it think it's a really well-made MMORPG. I plan to return for the new expansion.

There are some games that can. Big titles like Mario will surely sell past its launch year, since in the case of Mario, there has only been one real Mario platformer per generation. Although there will be other platformers, quite possibly better, Mario is Mario and has that name recognition. Also, titles that have a certain game genre on lock-down will sell past its launch year. Sticking with Nintendo, I will say SSBB will sell because there is simply no other fighter like it, not just on the Wii but on pretty much all consoles, barring its prequels.

When I go to a store, even the likes of Target and Wal-Mart, I see very little -- if any -- shovelware games like Anubis II and Chicken Shoot. The amount of shovelware doesn't bother me when stores rarely even have them to sell.
