[QUOTE="DaAznSaN"][QUOTE="Demodocus"]So basically any game that wins GOTY is a compromise?Let me share this with you guys.It is the a quote from the 2003 GOTY, the one in which another safe Nintendo franchise won:
"In fact, our protracted deliberations over this award category mostly focused on a bitter struggle between two games, neither of which was The Wind Waker. They were, on one side, the epic, ambitious, and outstanding achievement that is Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for the Xbox, and, on the other side, the wonderfully creative, incredibly well put together, immensely appealing, and pleasantly surprising Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. Compelling arguments were raised both for and against both of these games. But eventually, through our deliberations, we doubled back to Zelda."
Compromises happen. That doesn't mean SMG is a bad game or something, on the contrary, it is a great game. But it won not because it was the best, but because it was the most polished game and hardest to argue against.

No, just with the way winners are chosen in close categories sometimes compromises are made.
Oh I get it. Since this year has so many contenders, whatever won GOTY has to be a compromise. That means there is no actual GOTY. Got'cha.
