@Atzenkiller: Yes, you're right, Sony DID do a great job, at an impressive 0.00018% defect rate.

@sladakrobot: But it does prevent people from panicking about things that don't matter. The fact is, the drift issue isn't an issue at all. 9 out of 5 million is one of the lowest defect rates I've ever seen in electronics, and even for those 9 users, Sony, will fix the problem for free.

There is no reason to make an article like this other than to generate clicks by making an outrageous claim based on a fraction of the truth. The xbox360 red ring problem was a 35% defect chance. That was newsworthy. As is stands, the defect rate for Dualsense is 0.00018%. This is not newsworthy, it is clickbait and fearmongering.

@cottonfly: They're literally giving you the option to spend less money in case you buy the base game and don't want to spend more on the DLC.

Where is the greed exactly? They are paying for man-hours to make this change and are making precisely $0.

@bkaylor05: They aren't affording them. A large business is buying them up, and employing poor people to sell them off and giving them a cut during the holidays. If you look into it a little, it's actually the least shitty scalper situation I've come across and I don't totally condemn it in this case. They're creating jobs for those who lost theirs during covid so they can have a christmas.

@lionhartwolf: Understandable misunderstanding. It's not individual people buying up ps5s and reselling them in the example you mentioned. It's a business that buys up tons of ps5s, and employs people who lost their jobs before the holidays to sell them off.

One of my favourite parts of visiting gamefaqs is that, once in awhile, you get a cool nugget of info in the headlines that makes the visit worth it. I have been doing so since.... I dunno, 2005? 2006?

These "everything we know" posts are going to be the thing that stops me from ever visiting this site again. It's filler garbage posted by amateurs that make Buzzfeed look professional. Maybe you will get a few extra clicks now, but you're killing the golden goose to get a few extra eggs before it dies. You are killing your site's reputation.

@tony_miami: Not a fanboy, I just have the faintest inkling about how modern technology works, unlike you. I would be saying the same thing if Xbox was the system of discussion, or Switch, or PC, or anything else that uses a storage device, because that's how storage devices work.

You're welcome to stick your head in the sand and call me a fanboy because you can't face the simple idea that a 1TB drive doesn't give you 1TB of free space, but it reveals to 99% of people who have ever owned any device with any kind of storage device that you are an idiot.
