Dear lord...

Nothing can dominate Super Mario RPG!

:P

timmy00

This post mostly destroys every other game in the shooter (FPS) category. Don't worry, Mario is unaffected. ;)

1. It's fast-paced

Before linking to a game being more fast-paced, this is not the only thing making CoD great. But it helps. Contrary to Battlefield's slow and tiring gameplay, you are thrown right into the action, and everything goes like a rocket!

2. Killstreaks

They did it first. It all started with IW, so they have more experience than anyone else in the industry. They evolve it the most. And it's addictive as hell, don't try to deny it! One of the best and most important implements into games the last decade.

3. Perks

Another significant implement. The fact that you can choose different perks, allowing you to play in a different manner, try different ways to attack, protect etc., makes it hugely addictive and interesting to play. No game comes close to this.

4. IT'S FUN TO PLAY

Unlike most games, which begin to tire you quite fast, Call of Duty is the most entertaining game in the world. It's just fun to play. You laugh with and at each other, and at the end of the game, you smile and look forward to the next game intensely. It's simply fun. It's what video games are about. It doesn't get more entertaining than this. This is entertainment.

5. Sound effects/theme songs

The almight theme songs of Modern Warfare help create a unique and unbeatable atmosphere, always pumping you up in the beginning of the game, and leaves you satisfied in the end. Not to mention the sound effects of the guns, which create a realistic atmosphere in the game itself.

6. Graphics

Sure, there are better. BF3 has better, so does Crysis etc. But the graphics in Call of Duty were nailed in Modern Warfare 2. The technology used was very impressive, and since Treyarch and IW know that gaming is about having fun, they will never prioritize graphics, but instead making the game more fun in other areas. However, the graphics helps make the series superb.

7. AC-130

Nuff' said.

8. The customization, theatre, weapon unlocks

Just one of many things making Call of Duty addictive, and makes you love the game months and even years after release. Nobody does it better than Infinity Ward, and they will prove it with Modern Warfare 3.

9. The ACTION

This is real, pure entertainment. It's almost as if you're in a real war. You panick, everything is stressed, you have to think quickly and react very rapidly in the most of stressful situations. Military, war and entertainment as a whole simply can't become better or top this. It's simply impossible.

So ever wondered why everyone buys Call of Duty, and not your favourite game? Why nobody gives a **** about your favourite game and everyone talks about Call of Duty, all the time? These are SOME the reasons.

It is a fun game, but let me know when they come out with something new.

They haven't changed the winning formula since COD 4, and it's getting very old now.

DARKNESSxEAGLE

Why change the formula if it's winning?

Because there are still people who don't like it. Therefore it has a problem of not appealing to everyone, thus it can still be improved. If something can be improved, and it's known what needs improvement, then there's no reason to stop improving it.

If they don't like it, too bad. Find something else to play. We don't care! ;)

GOGOGOGURT

Why change the formula if it's winning?

They need to make enough changes to keep the interest of gamers.

Change too much, and it wouldn't be COD. Change little to none, and even the funnest games get old.

They change enough. COD is COD. They don't need to change too much. The game is too fun to play.

This made me laugh due to the masses of people who have told me CoD has become too repetetive and dull to be interesting to them anymore. These have been coming to me since a week after Black-Ops was released.

DARKNESSxEAGLE

It didn't stop Black Ops from being the most successful and actively played CoD game in the world, you feel me? You understand what I'm saying? It doesn't matter if some are getting tired of CoD. It's simply so geniously created, that there will always be more joining than leaving, and this results in COD growing and growing all the time... No stop.

You're forgetting that they all bought Black-Ops, they just didn't like it after a short period of time, so it's 'success' was rather.... masked, for lack of an appropriate word.

Who cares if someone gets tired, when there are still so many else loving the game?

It has been mentioned many times. People love it because it is easy to play. The game strokes their egos with killstreaks and various other statistics. There is little emphasis on teamwork. For people who don't have very much time to game, CoD is the perfect game. You can play it for twenty minutes and feel as if you still achieved something.

The_Capitalist

this applies to every videogame out there.

Not necessarily. Have you tried ARMA? Takes ages for you feel as if you achieved something. That game sucks out all of the fun of a video game and replaces it with the frustrations of being a soldier. The reward comes in the end.

So let me ask you; if people had more time playing video games, they would rather choose Arma instead of COD?

So during vacations, people take forth ARMA and during weekdays (school, work) they play COD?

If it wasn't more fun to play than any other shooter, I'm sure some of the many millions would have switched, period!

I shouldn't bite but whatever.

COD having more fans than other games does not mean it's "more fun". When something has a large fanbase that usually means it appeals to a wide variety of people, somethings popularity depends on a few things including how broad the appeal is.

For example pop music is very popular? You know why? It's easy to listen to, your friends listen to it, you don't need to go out and find it, and it has a formula that most people enjoy. That does not make pop music the best kind of music, it just means it appeals to the most people and it's the largest.

Yangire

OK, let me put it in this way:

more people think COD is more entertaining to play than anything else.

And please, don't bring music into this, you're embarrassing yourself.

Sure, but the problem was you saying it's "more fun to play" than anything else because of that. I brought music into the conversation because it was an example like I said. If you weren't getting what I was saying I expanded it into another entertainment medium so you could follow me, it's not hard to understand.

If it wasn't more fun to play than any other shooter, I'm sure some of the many millions would have switched, period!
