A game is not necessarily good because of the graphics, but having solid gameplay and story plus good graphics just makes it that much more immersive. Having good graphics never hurt a game, except maybe Crysis just because of the people who's PCs were incapable of playing it.

So I just got my EVGA 9800GX2 and Corsair 750W PSU today. Hooked it all up and it runs great, except games. I have tried the latest beta drivers, the ones on the disk it comes with, and the 174.74 drivers. In all of the above games do not run at all and the display driver constantly crashes. I am running vista 32 bit SP1 with 4GB of RAM and a 3.45Ghz Core 2 Duo. Does anyone know which drivers actually WORK with the GX2? Or if its another issue?

According to most people the 9600 performs like a 8800GT 256MB, not as high and crippled a bit compared to the 8800GT. So I guess I can only hope that the 9800 comes out within 11 days.

My specs are:

Intel Core2 Duo E6420 @ 2.13Ghz

2x1GB OCZ Platinum 800Mhz DDR2 RAM

Asus P5b-VM Motherboard

EVGA 8800GT SC 512MB

Sound Blaster Audigy with 5.1 Speakers

Even before anything I want to get a new motherboard and CPU cooler so I should, according to other peoples results, get a 3.0GHz overclock. Also according to EVGA I have 11 days left in the step up program for my 8800.

Probably the best idea, I need a newer CPU alot more than a video card. 2.28GHz Dual core isnt cutting it with Crysis.

My point being that the 9600 running SLI is much faster than a single 8800GT and to get 2 9600 cards it will cost me $360 while another 8800GT will cost me $275. Also seeing as I can sell my current 8800GT for $300 to a friend it would be a good deal. Also that is why I am asking.

Thats what I was thinking, although more Crysis performance would not be a bad thing but it has to be really worth the price.

Right now I'm running a 8800GT and before the 9600 came out I was eventually going to go SLI with it. Now that the 9000 series is just aroud the corner I don't know if I should stick with the 8800s or buy 2 9600 cards or a 9800. I guess it all comes down to the performance increases with the 9600/9800.

OK, I'll pick up the 800MHzRAM in a few days and get the CPU later on after I get enough cash for it.
