[QUOTE="Makari"][QUOTE="kruesader"]who sits at a computer looking at an angle..Dopeyman

Note the different angles from the top and the bottom of the screen. Looking straight on from 2-3 feet away on a 22", I'd get different colors at the top of the screen compared to the bottom. TN's have really bad vertical color shifting, but most people just don't notice because they're not already used to VA or IPS panels. :) Which is a very lucky thing, sigh.

Needs m0ar tilt.

Now with tilt!

And that Vista Home Premium 32 bit OEM will run everything smoothly and utilize everthing I have well instead of running things slower? Because I honestly don't want to run things slower because Vista looks a little better. It's the other things I want to look good. g0ldenboy

Vista will run things a LITTLE bit slower. 10 fps at the most in some games. But Vista also takes advantage of true dx10, which WiC and Crysis should prove to be satifying for going vista. So besides the OS looking good...your dx10 games will look a bit better. Vista will definantly utilize all of your hardware expecially that 8800gtx.

Its all up to you.
-XP = a little faster / no dx10/ less buggy /more capatible
-Vista = a little slower / dx10 benefits/ some capatibility issues (i honestly dont hear many anymore...besides sound cards..which isnt as bad as before)/
I normally say the move to vista is either now or later...and since your building new...thats the best time to make the switch.

Anyone think it's shady that this card could easily out-do the 8800GTS if it wanted to? The GTS has been around a year now, and if you can offer something better and cheaper, then why not? Especially when we need a good card this holiday season, I got to believe that Nvidia's got something else planned for the holiday season. I don't understand purposely underclocking a card so you don't make your 1-year-old card look bad. The 2950XT is coming up too so Nvidia is going to look pretty bad this holiday season... They've got to have something else up their sleave right?

When it shuts off...quickly go into bios and read the temperatures. Then come back and post them. It can be lots of things, psu, ram, cpu, motherboard...

IMO i'd go with vista home premium 32-bit OEM. Vista runs perfectly fine, as most drivers are getting much less buggy. Definantly the OEM version because you are doing a system build so you can take advangtage of the cheaper price. You'll also probably like the look of vista better too. And lastly, its dx10 and doing it now is easier than waiting, and upgrading later. I highly doubt you'll regret it.

i tell you straight off right now...that buying a physx card wont see benefits worth the cost.
VERY few games support it right now (ghost recons are the main). UT3 will support it but games that support it in the past have just added eye candy effects that actually just cause you to lose performance. Crysis will not support it.
The fact of the matter is...devs wont support it if there is no user base. And not many buy it if games dont use it...catch-22. Its better to just spend the 150 dollars on a better gfx card.

Well an artifact is just something that looks wrong on the screen when doing a video test. What i do is run 3DMark06 after i overclock 20 mhz...in the firebug graphic test is when i mostly see them. They are like triangular flashing shadows...thats the best way i can describe them :P. google it if u want a better explanation than that. I can tell you that you will definantly notice artifacts if you are getting them.

ive gone as far as 675 with the core clock...before i saw artifacts. My temps are 53 C idle...and at max 67 C load. I believe below 80C (75C to be safe) is acceptable.
