So long Jeff

I've been on Gamespot for 6 years. And Gerstman has been a stable for all of them. I really don't know him but it feels like I should if I ran into him on the street.

If anything I've learned is the Jeff is good at what he does. I've disagreed with many of his reviews but his entertaining personality on the Podcasts have always glued me back to the Spot.

For whatever reason he was let go, I respect. It happens; hopefully his transition will bring positive changes for both GS and Jeff.

If achievements were in a 40 oz, I'd poor some on the floor for Jeff. jk

Finished Uncharted and Assassins Creed

I finished Assassins Creed and Uncharted this weekend. It took me a couple of weekends to finish, I don't have time to play on weekdays anymore.

I'm very impressed with both the games for different reasons.

Assassins's Pros

Ending made me want to learn more about modern day battle between the Templars and the Assassins.

I can see how Assassins creed could spark sequals to Far East, Africa, Europe.

Combat was cool and kill moves are satisfying; knowing you timed a counter properly.

You will learn a little history. I wanted to locate the Holy Sepulcre but you can't until the final Jerusalem missions.

Cons

Repetitive missions. Needs more variety. I would have bet that there was going to be a Horse-back boss battle.

Freezing. Game kept freezing. Matrix ****

Cliff Hanger, I wish I had a little more finality to the bigger story. What's to become of Desmond?

People can get offended by turning faith into some magical orb of power. It comes across that the developers are trying to demean faith and turn it to some tangeabile magical talisman. Jesus, Mohammad, Moses nor Abraham had some magical ball of power to subvert people into believers. (I can create a longer blog on this but I won't.)

Uncharted Pros

Story made me feel I was playing out a blockbuster action movie. The pacing was spot on for me.

Action and adventure perfected. The shoot outs were trying at first then I got the swing of it.

Graphics: what can I say except WOW!

The story could have been written by Speilberg. This was the closest to a modern day Indiana Jones I've seen. (Nazis...check.)

This could have been a movie. Hollywood is out of ideas, I'm sure they'll be making this story into a movie one day.

No Loading... yep that's right. Only at the beggining.

Cons

No Boss battles like theater movies. I can't say if this is really a pro or a con.

Seemed a little rushed towards the end to finish the story.

Character diversity. Did all the South American characters have to be bad guys? How typical: good guys are white American everyone else is bad and corrupt.
