Personally from my observations most people prefer the PS3 are those who typically buy without doing any research. Mostly buying just because of the Sony name. Trust me Sony is not the company that they used to be. These are the same people that just automatically buy an Ipod just because it is the "in" thing not because it is the best product out there.
I have always been a console gamer. I have never gamed on PC. I own a 360 now but this might be my last console. I am starting to think that the console will eventually become obsolete. Just my opinion. When Vista starts taking advantage of DX10, I think something big is going to happen. What I don't know . I just have that feeling.
With all of this hoopla about the Cell is this and Xenos it this.... It doesn't matter. The PS2 won last gen because it had all of the games. It had all genres covered. All of this with the weakest hardware from that generation.Much of this was due to the fact it came out first. As of now the 360 is in the postion the PS2 was in last gen. It was the first out and has the most games. As for the power of the hardware? Who knows and who cares. But I do know one thing, it has the games. Wouldn't you agree? Which brings me back to the topic of this discussion.
Now that HDTV is about to go mainsteam, TV's now support the resolution for PC's. So now that the PC can be hooked up to the TV, I am starting to think that consoles will be obolete. Advantage:MS
I guess you could say that the XBOX360 is the Ford F150 of video games. The F150 is the number one selling truck in America. It come in a lot of configurations ranging from somewhere in the upper teens in price and topping out at around 40K. So people can choose to buy what they need or what they can afford. If something had a higher starting price less people can afford to buy it. Why appeal to such a small group, when you can appeal to the masses. That's just my 2 cents.
Maybe this has been discussed before maybe not. I have always been a console gamer dating back to the SNES days. I have never actually played a PC game. Something just hit me like 5 mins ago(maybe I am a little slow) With HDTV now about to hit mainstream, and PC's now able to hook up to TV's couldn't this like make consoles obsolete in the future? The main reason I was or should I am a console gamer was being able to sit back on the couch and watch the big picture. That now is no longer an issue and because of this I think I just bought my last console. Just my .02 .
