Well wadda'ya know?!

A blasted yellow blinking light has brought the rationality of my absence of this place for almost a year, since "no PS3, why bother?". My first fixing attempt failed because I did something wrong. I was trying a reflow and I was a hundred degrees short (250c) due to the circumstances of the only heat gun I was able to aquire. (Following this guide by the way)

So I felt like taking another crack at it a few days ago and adjusted my heat flow time accordingly by adding ten seconds. Got the thermal paste out, pieced it back together and all that and to my amazement; I had a green solid light and my PS3 killing Oblivion came out! lol So exactly 10 months after the initial shutdown of *PS3 #2 THAT FELL VICTIM TO THE SAME DAMN THING AS #1*, my PS3 is running again and I'm "once again" able to revisit my favourite games and begin to look forward to others in the future! I can't wait for Metal Gear Rising. So I'm glad to be back on PSN after all this time and once again, will be coming back to this PS3 forum for news and such periodically. Back to my very missed, Fallout New Vegas!

On another note, I would like to dedicate this song to whomever is reading (thank you for taking your time to do so by the way!) In my absence (amongst various other things), I've come across this band called Immortal. Enjoy!

YLOD #2 and the quality of this generation..

Well this is utter crap. I ran into "YLOD #2" one year and eight months into my referb PS3. My first PS3 lasted a year and ten months. So what is this...? The 60 Gig model PS3's can't last two years?! I've already paid $190 the first time for this "referb" and it only had a 90 day warranty. (of coarse). So F' Sony, I'm fixing this myself. I've got nothing to lose and I certainly don't have $190 to waste on this yet again, so I'm going with the YLOD repair guide. Will fix it soon (other stuff going on at the moment) and it's a hell of a lot cheaper (what, $15 for thermal paste, tops!) So I'll likely be doing this next month.

On an otherwise funny note, it's rather sad when the former "inferior generation" has outlasted the current one. Fired up my old fat PS2 today (that I bought in Jan of 2002), STILL WORKS. Eight years old and it still works! Long gaming hours, was my main DVD player, been transported here and there, knocked over a couple of times, even accumulated dust. STILL WORKS

Now why is that? Every console I've had since 1985 has NEVER quit on me in it's hayday, not even once. Now I've got the new crap and it stinks. What kind of console quits twice around the same time frame? I'll tell you one thing though, I'll throw out a cliche that maybe someone my age should start using. "They don't make'em like they used to!".

Why are there dumb people on the PS3 threads..?

I honestly do not understand the complete mental retardation that is "what game should I get and why should I get these games?" or "Why should I buy a PS3? Convince me to buy one!"

I don't get how this is a "complicated task". Are gamers really that stupid? Whatever happened to maintaining an IQ level higher than a walnut? Whatever happened to using the bloody site you're on?! It's like this example...

A guy walks into a library, stands in front of the database computer (for the sake of making a point, filled with ads and video commentary about every book in the building on top of the means to find it) and the guy just stands there with a blank look on his face, only to ask random people that walk by "What book should I get? Can you convince me to pick a book?". Of coarse, in real life.....any moron that would pull such a thing would likely to be told to 'go F' himself' or 'use the computer in front of you, you idiot!'.

So I put this forward. How come this happens on a website that has GAME in it's god damn title? Is this what's happening to people for something as minor as a video game? I've heard of the term "sheeple", but there's got to be a line somewhere.....right..?

GWAR Bloody Pit Of Horror

After the anticipation, after being stoaked about this. I gotta tell ya, GWAR DELIVERED.

If you're a GWAR or metal fan, you gotta pick this album up. The album begins with Zombies, March!

I would load the rest, but nobody has posted it on Youtube yet as it's rather new (released Nov 9th) but some got it "early" :P (by a couple hours, no real difference). You play this album, loud. It gives you that special FUK YEAH!" feeling:lol: GWAR pulls no stops, it's heavy, thrashy and "GWAR" from start to finish. If any of you reading this like metal or would be interested in giving GWAR a shot, metal fan or not. Get Bloody Pit Of Horror. (and get the old stuff while you're at it)

Now if you'll excuse me, I shall be "rocking out" as they say..

And always remember, never trust a midget!

Anthem to Kratos..?

Ok, so for those who don't know enough about me. I am a GWAR fan. I like most of their stuff, but whatever.

I recently grabbed myself some old GWAR songs I overlooked before and I came across a song called Lost God. I know it doesn't mention Zeus, but still. It's a metal song about killing all the gods and he's the only "lost god" that remains. After a few listens I started thinking... Kratos! Could this be a potential anthem to Kratos?

Well, all you phantom or real readers who dotted across this blog, give it a listen. Listen to the lyrics and respond if you agree or not..?

Of coarse, it being a GWAR song, it has swearing and all that. But you guys play GTA and all that stuff, so who really cares.

God Of War 2

Well, I've finally got around to picking it up. Stress dictated this buy (and a little of playing Dante's inferno). So far so good. Though, I've noticed some screen problems when it came to some rooms. The story isn't bad. But I still find that the first one kind of "finalized itself". I'm curious to find out what the 3rd one is about. I'm glad I bought the PS2 version though. There's no point spending the extra money since I already have the first one. Walmart bins are good for something.

EDIT: By the way, I F'ing HATE the Icarus Wings with a passion. They really do clash with the double jump button input (because sometimes it just doesn't feel like it and wants to do the other thing instead) It really is pissing me off. I'm currently at the lava Colossus level and this is by far the most hated level in the game because of this crap. I do double jump, it wants to jump ONCE and *attempt* Icarus Wings instead (as they come out). As a gamer who has been playing platformers since the 80's. I know well enough to time your jumps especially if you have a double jump in your arsenal. ICARUS WINGS GET IN MY F'ING WAY. It's better off as just a magic casting power. Like the time freeze ability. I think they could've done better with the button timing. A rather unwanted flaw to GOW2.

The rest of the year

Boredom/Just for kicks

So, we are in Q3 and Q4 is coming up shortly. So what games are going to top off 2009 for you? What would be on you list?

As for me:

I'm going for Fallout 3's first DLC release "Broken Steel" and "The Pitt" after it. Can't wait to play those.

My first Smackdown game in five years.

This game is sounding really good. So many things to do in this game (and what you can do). Their focus (this time) is user created content. Especially "fantasy booking" and creating stories, feuds and your own shows. Even right down to tattoo creation with a draw/paint tool. I've been waiting for a proper next gen Smackdown game and I think this is it (or a start in the right direction at least). So I can't wait for this title.

The game I've been following (as much as I could). But there doesn't seem to be much press about it. I guess because of the usual "media blackout" to finish up. Since I'll be Christmas shopping soon, I hope I can buy this title (after Smackdown):

I really hope it'll be as good as the videos I've seen.

Well anyways, aside from enjoying the approaching cold weather. I'll also be enjoying these games in the coming months.

So what are you readers looking forward to?
