1 grand for headphones?

Are you kidding me? I'm no audiophile but that seems excessive

Gambler_3

Well considering there are speakers that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars, it seems petty in comparison. :P

well it is dumb when you can always drop less than 200 for a premium pair of Bose headphones

[QUOTE="DivergeUnify"][QUOTE="Zaibach"]sounds like you needed a change of underwear :)

How much were they?

Zaibach

The amp, or headphones? I got the Grados for 250, Senns for 250 used, and my friend got the Beyers for 180, and the whole amp combo for about the same price I think. My DAC was 100

cool I'll check em out when I get my own place, hipefully they arent outdated by then.

How are they for house parties?

Thanks

Well all of these headphones have been around for a while( slight modifications throughout the years) so thats not a concern, but for something like DJing, thats a no go. Better off going with something closed or looking for a pair of DJ headphones in the FAQ thread

Meh: I'm done with Sennheiser. They might sound great, but for me - with an extra-large head - they are always crushingly tight. From the 202's to the 555 and 598s, I just can't wear them.

Considering how comfortable models from AKG (Q701), Audio Technica (ATH-A and ATHADs), and Grado are I cannot justify Sennheiser's vice-like grip across their product line.

HD650s feel really not tight at all on my head lol. I got them used, but still

Is almost all of Gamespot really laid back, or are all of you trying to be "cool?"

Truthfully, I do what I do, and don't really mind what others do, just as long as their not screwing with me or my friends.

Laidback can also mean lazy( which I definitely am) :P

I saw these on head-fi the other day. The preview of them seemed too glowing to not be hype. I'm sure they sound great, though

I think so. I've heard a bunch of Shure IEMs and the Klipsch isn't too far behind the SE530 imo

[QUOTE="DivergeUnify"]

Tonight my friend finally received his Beyer DT990s 250 ohm with e7/e9 combo. I rolled on over to his crib with my Grado 325is and Senn HD650s. Hooked everything up into my PC and HOLY GODDAMN!!!! OMFG!!!! IS THIS REAL??? Everything sounded, SO. GOD. DAMN. GOOD!! We listened to Crystal Castles, The Cure, My Bloody Valentine, Depeche Mode, Bjork. Everything sounded incredible

Most impressive to me though... was the jump the Grados received. They sounded larger than life, immaculate, perfectly textured, P-E-R-F-E-C-T-I-O-N

To everyone wondering if amps are worth it, I'm a total convert. Back to back comparisons between E9 and my DAC was NO comparison. Due to driver issues we didn't even have the E7 hooked up half the time, it was just line out straight to the E9 and just, WOW
