[QUOTE="onewiththegame"][QUOTE="Badosh"] Just hit the 11 hour mark. Finished up Al Mamoon. Been doing alot of random stuff, so I'm sure I'm behind.Phazevariance
Pretty much where I am

I'm at the volcano boss, I think that's a little farther.. or is it? I'm only maybe 6 hours in though. Been doing all the side quests too.

I started the game last night and played for 7 hours:P. Can't wait to play more tho, I've been doin all the errands myself so I am prolly a little slow but lets just say a blonde and me are friends now. How far into the game until you can catch familiars?

What about what Bioshock Infinite is doing? I have yet to preorder it but I plan on it and I know you get that mini-game that unlocks stuff for the game, that I am down for, it will just get me excited about the game even if it isnt a mind blowing puzzle or whatever it is. Also think im getting the limited edition specifcally for that print, looks dope. I am happy too seeing that they offer 2 types of editions not counting the standard game.

Microtransactions are the most obvious attempt at a money grab. It gives people the choice to not play the game itself in exchange for cash which is ultimately up to the player to decide but it can just break down a game from feeling special. Can you imagine in a game like Dark Souls if you could simply buy souls, weapons or materials for upgrades? It would crush and ruin the game because the work you put into the game is what creates the reward and sense of accomplishment.

Yeah, Dead space 3 is a different type of game compared to Dark Souls, but if this is a trend that persists a lot of amazing titles could lose their luster on the account of greed from men in suits. To me, freemium and microtransactions are signs that a game can be very shallow.

In a matter of days I will no longer be 21 but 22 and earlier tonight I began looking at some games to preorder and realized every single noteworthy title out there right now gives you some sort of bonus content. Personally, I enjoy the preorder content but at the same time I get frustrated losing out on content because I did not preorder a game. Preorder bonuses serve as incentives for the players to buy the game ahead, it makes plenty of sense, but is anybody else every annoyed with what you can miss if you don't preorder a game? Let alone, different places give you different bonuses, take Ni no kuni for example where preordering the game from amazon gets you an extra monster versus the gamestop exclusive of a pretty cool looking metal case.

Now what I don't understand is why a company wouldn't bundle all of those goodies together under one collection of the game. Sure, there are collectors or limited editions that can net you some awesome stuff but even then those special editions can still be lacking in content that should easily have been included. Specifically, take Dead Spcae 3 for example where preordering the game from amazon gets you an exclusive gun. That means there is an entire weapon (and ammo) that you won't be getting in the game if you don't hop on this deal which to me is ridiculous. Hypothetically speaking, if you don't preorder the game you are missing out on content that is undoubtably game changing and thats when I begin to really dislike the preorder system.

Does anybody else miss when getting a game was just that? You didn't have to preorder because you didnt want to miss out on stuff, you didnt have to buy DLC because it was already apart of the game. I'm just curious what you guys think because the preorder ordeal is one I feel most gamers are familiar with and I want to hear what you guys gotta say.

How is the combat in the game? Like, is it repetitive? And before you tell me to go search it up, I've read the reviews and seen the game, but I want to hear it from you guys here at System Wars. I'm really considering getting it since it's a breath of fresh air (and it's going to be my first JRPG aside from Pokemon) and looks stellar in terms of art style. And just to make sure...it is a long game, right?

XVision84

If this is your first non-Pokemon jrpg then I'm willing to be the combat will be more interesting to you than it would be to most others.

alright, I just found the demo to be incredibly easy which is why I worried.

It was only the demo... Demo's usually aren't that difficult and are suppose to give you a general feel for the game. I agree it wasn't difficult, but that is a minor slice of the large proverbial pie. The game is around 40 some hours to my understanding and if you want to unlock anything it iwll be even longer than that. And yeah, if this is ur first JRPG since pokemon you are in for a treat.

Yea, I can't afford a PS3 now to play Demon's Souls (student loans are a biatch) and I don't have any friends with a PS3. Sucks.

GrannyGoat

That sucks, my condolences. What systems do you have then?

I doubt they will port it over at least not anytime soon. PS3's are becoming less and less expensive and Demon's Souls is now on PSN too for I think 20 bucks. If you loved Dark Souls you owe to yourself to play the game that started it all.
