It will be the best single day selling game yet.

Mark this thread and bump it if I am wrong.....it's only a few short months away.

I have no doubt that it will be the best single day selling game. I highly doubt that 4 million people pre-odered from EB/GameStop. I also highly doubt that some 8 million copies will be sold the first weekend.

If it does, great, but I would not hold my breath.

8 million? No way.

But first week sales should be somewhere between 4 to 6 million.

You have to take into account that many people are holding off on their 360 purchase until this game is released.......plus it will be around the holidays and people seem to throw a lot of cash around during that time of year.

[QUOTE="SpruceCaboose"] As far as I am concerned, and I am a huge Halo fan, this is only rumor and speculation until someone besides "industry insiders" confirm it.SpruceCaboose

Rumors surface for a reason....usually there is some truth to them.

This news is not out out of the question........the number of copies sold will be much higher than 4 million once it is released.

The rumor is supposed to be about GameStop/EB preorders alone, and they account for far less than half all game sales, so if they claim 4 million, Halo 3 would have an opening day pre-order somewhere along the lines of 4 times more than Halo 2. While I know its popular, I just don't see it selling to every Halo 2 owner in pre-orders.

It will be the best single day selling game yet.

Microsoft's (NASDAQ: MSFT) Halo 2 video game racked up sales of $125 million the day it hit the market. The world's largest software company believes that sales of the new Halo 3 game will be even larger. Aside from a version of the game for the Xbox 360, there will also be a Halo 3 for the Microsoft Zune.

According to one video game review publication, the newest version of the game is meant to fend off competition for the Sony (NYSE: SNE) PS3 and Nintendo Wii.

Video game industry experts say that Halo 3 has four million pre-orders from retailers, compared with 1.5 million for the launch of Halo 2. If that is true, it may add to the troubles for the already shaky start of the new PS3. Most surveys show the new Sony platform's sales lagging the unexpectedly popular Wii and the Xbox.

Wall Street and the gaming industry did not expect that Xbox, which was launched in late 2001, had much of a chance of catching Sony. The Japanese company simply had too large a lead. But, it is now Sony that is struggling to move back into first place. PS3 problems have even been blamed for the departure from Sony of PlayStation creator Ken Kutaragi.

The Microsoft way is to enter a business, out-develop and out-spend competition, and then finish them off. It seems to be working against Sony.

This year is more of a preliminary battle leading on to the true battle which will take place from next year. Claiming that a particular console has already one is stupid when you consider that Wii and PS3 have only been out for 6 months (PS3 one month in Europe) and the fact that this gen will last atleast 5-6 years. What is happening now could be very different to what would be happening next year or the next etc etc.

For now we can only speculate, hmmm....

AB_Uppercut

With a X360 price drop, the Elite, Halo 3, ever evolving XBL,a cheaper way for the casuals to play GTA 4.......Sony is going to be playing catch up in 2008 and 2009, not leading anything.

Initial sales will be OK. I still think the Elite is a mistake though which will eventually turn out bad for MS. I mean, what motive do they have for justifying the PS3's price?

Who knows for sure though...we've just gotta wait and see.

the-very-best

It's not a mistake, and don't worry, Sony will copy.

[QUOTE="ganon546"]So just because I think the PS3 will never beat the 360 means that I'm loyal to Xbox. Makes a lot of sense . iMacBot

I was thinking the same thing.. It's funny how PS3 fanboys are quick to call others "Fanboys".

XBOX 360 = Fanboybox.

XBOX 360 owners trash the PS3 because they're afraid that they invested the wrong console.

And PS3 owners trash the X360 because Sony force fed them another Sony (format with Blu-Ray) and that they have to wait over a year from the consoles launch, to maybe get a few AAA games.
