Hello again, my friends and fans. I don't even know if I have any fans, but to anyone who views my blogs, listen well to what I'm about to tell you. If you have a manuscript registered with the Library of Congress, then there is a definite chance that you will receive certain letters from publishing companies in the mail. Now, if you don't remember contacting a publisher from whom you got a letter from, then read the ENTIRE LETTER over very carefully, because it may very well be from a subsidy publisher. And yes, these are the publishers that want money in order to publish your manuscript. Now, at first this may seem like a good idea, but be aware that some of these 'vanity publishers' as they are more commonly called may very well rip you off or try to pass your manuscript off as their own work. Well, if you are trying to get published, then I highly recommend searching for a site called Predators and Editors. If you type that name in your web browser, it should come right up. If you are using a certain internet service, like AOL, then it should be the first page you should see on the search list. I strongly recommend checking out the site, because it lists a whole bunch of publishers and it even tells which ones are reputable and trustworthy and which ones to avoid at all costs. Earlier today, I got a letter from a subsidy publisher, and as expected, they encouraged me to submit my entire manuscript to them and I quote: 'for a no-fee, no obligation review'. So, since I already knew about Predators and Editors, I decided to research this publisher and I found out that they were one of the ones that were not recommended and they were in fact and I quote: 'a vanity and subsidy publisher'. So, as a fellow writer, let me offer a little free advice to all you other writers out there: Before accepting the terms and conditions of a subsidy publisher, do a little research on them first and see if you can find out if they are on the up-and-up or are they a 'Predatory Publisher'?
Keep watching my profile and blog for future posts and updates.
Yours faithfully, DramaStorm
