[QUOTE="Drathyl"]Gaming on a pc is riddled with constant tweaking. Mini ninjas crashes every 20 minutes, dark star one can't run on 1680*1050 for some odd reason, borderlands suddenly slows to a crawl, bad company 2 for a very long time was very slow to load maps with ATI cards. Connection problems with solution being update network drivers. Well my network card is integrated. Well lets find out the motherboard model and get the drivers for that. Hardly the best platform for gaming. I'm tired of that. On xbox I put the disc in and start playing. If there is ever need for an update, I just choose yes, I do want the console do the work for me. It is just silly to call PC the best gaming platform.Frozzik

Funny, i have mini ninja's, my 8 year old loves it (see steam sig), its my second most played game this week, not 1 crash. Never had any of the other issues either. Don't get me wrong, there are sometimes problems that do come with PC but many are through user error or simply caused by not keeping up with drivers/updates. Steam is a great program for this.

Honestly, my 2 gaming Pc's are used for gaming and nothing else, i have a laptop for everything else. Rarely do i have any issues at all.

Yes but thats the problem: keeping up with the drivers. And sometimes you just can't figure out what crashes it even though have drivers up to date and computer clean of spyware. My computer runs starcraft 2 flawlessly, but my friends computer crashes every once in a awhile. There have been reports of overheating with starcraft, but I have no problems. This is the problem with pc gaming. It's not always user problems. The problem is the infinite complexity of different hardware setups and drivers. And that's why I cannot recommend PC as a gaming platform.

Let's say I'm a stupid user and all the problems are caused by me. Well xbox is awesome since even stupid person like me doesn't have problems with it. Oh and I'm a programmer so I do now a thing or two about computers.

[QUOTE="thetruespin"]It's interesting that most gamers apparently don't have very high spec computers.... but i thought you guys all ran Crysis on MAX???!V4SKUNK

Well its still funny how these average PCs still output much better graphics than any of the consoles. Not forgetting the fact Crysis can be run at all very high setings @ 1280x1000 @30fps on an average dual core CPU, 2gb RAM and an old lowly 8800GT which is coming up to 3 years old.

Not according to benchmarks: http://www.pclabs.com.tr/2007/10/29/crysis-benchmark-with-8800gt/

To me PC gaming is almost dead. It needs a miracle. Most of the game types I want to play are on consoles. And consoles just work. I'm sick and tired of tweaking and fixing obscure errors, because the game I bought wasn't tested on my particular combination of components. Empire Total War was a disaster, GTA4 was just embarrassing and recently I bought Red Faction Guerrilla from Steam, which I couldn't patch without tweaking registry. PC is supposed to be the most backwards compatible way to play games, but there's a bug in Red Faction Guerrilla which makes the game go in double speed if you are using Windows 7. Then there's all kinds of problems if you are using 64 bit OS. "Check your firewall, forward ports, disable your anti virus system" I'm sick and tired of this... My friend gave up gaming at one point because of these problems, but now he's back with his 360 and more than happy with it. We are both software developers so we are not afraid of computers. The most used argument against this is that I just fail at computers, after giving me advice that I should defrag my hard drive to make the game stop crashing. Most of the loudmouths have no idea how computers even work. By the way hats off to Valve for making hosting your own server in L4D2 work behind a NAT without any port forwarding(and I can't even forward ports). Atleast that game just works! I wanted to play Supreme Commander so bad, but guess what. You can't do it behind NAT without port forwarding. I know how to forward ports on my router, but the NAT is not on my router so no can do.

Depends on the game also, not the genre. Unreal tournament 3 is just unplayable on pc with 30 fps. I just can't aim straight and it feels choppy. Then again I don't even need 30 fps in crysis and the game feels smooth and plays fine.

Most of the long games feel boring before the end, and often I don't bother finishing those. Shorter games keep you on your toes and there's always something new. There's no point to making the games long if only 10% of the players are going to see the end.

I think the Rocket Launcher with Minigun was more awesome. It was so awesome when you get it the first time. "Yay, a minigun.. AND IT FIRES ROCKETS TOO?!?!"

Well, if Microsoft is terrified, then Sony must have been **** their pants the whole current generation. They went from 1st place in last generation to last place in current generation. Was betting heavily on first parties worth it, considering it gained PS3 the nickname 'WaitStation'? How much does it matter if a system seller game loses its exclusiveness after a year or two? Xbox 360 players have already played those and moved on to newer games, while they can still get some additional revenue by selling the title on other platforms. Was getting almost a year's headstart cheap trick on Microsofts part, or was it an incredible technological feat?

PS3 has the brand that everyone knows, it has bluray. it's competitor is all over the news for having really faulty hardware and it has free online. Even then it sells worse than Xbox 360. Why would anyone be terrified of Sony?
