@Gelugon_baat: If a game is released that is broken or has severe problems like game progress being lost, it should be rated poorly because that is how the developer decided to release their game. That is the only thing that should cause a game to be rated as poorly as this was. All of the negative points this has are from a severe bias towards Musou games.
Berserk plays well, looks good, has enemies that will block, dodge, keep their distance and punish you for spamming attacks. The more I play it, the less I think the reviewer actually played it and he just watched a few Youtube videos.
@Gelugon_baat: For a review, you can not use the type of game as a negative like this did. Each game needs to be reviewed as it's own entity. It's like reviewing a Call of Duty game poorly since it has guns or a Madden game poorly for having the Patriots.
I don't think anyone expects it to get a 9 or 10, but giving it a 5, there should be some serious problems with the game to get that low of a score. I have not experienced any bugs, crashes or problems with the game.
I personally think that Dragon Quest Heroes was more shallow than what I've seen in Berserk. In DQH after a certain point, every mission ends up being to protect statues from being destroyed by constant waves of enemies.
@CyberEarth: I noticed there was at least 1 of the early story stages you can use more than Guts, it was one of the castle stages. I'm not sure how many are like that though.
@Gelugon_baat: My point is simple, the reviewer only skimmed over parts of the game with a mind set on hating Musou style games and this review reflects that.
@Gelugon_baat: How is it not? Does Guts play the same as Schierke or Zodd? Does Berserk Armor Guts play the same as Band of the Hawk Guts or Even Guts with the Dragonslayer?
@Gelugon_baat: That would be like reviewing a game that had multiple weapons and playstyles and only ever using a spear. Like in Nioh only playing the game using a spear without ever trying to use any other weapon, omnyo magic or ninjutsu then complaining about the combat being boring only using the spear.
@Gelugon_baat: What did I miss? Like I mentioned, the reviewer said a short blurb about Casca, Guts and Griffith. If he only spent an hour in free mode, is that really enough time to try out Judeau and the rest of the cast if he also mentioned the missions take an average of 10 minutes. I doubt he even realizes some characters have un-lockable forms where they are in their transformation state permanently.
So what this review says is the reviewer doesn't like Musou style games and he didn't play any of the other characters besides Guts, Casca and Griffith. I wonder why any Musou style game gets a bad score just for being that kind of game when Souls type games have no story to speak of and have cheap deaths and yet they get good to great scores. If you want to die in a Musou game like you do in a Souls game, just play Chaos or Nightmare modes.
