I would not put much stock into what PCgamer says. They have really went down hill and are not too far from closing its doors. The entire magazine is 90% advertising so ofcourse they are gonna give certain games good scores.

I was excited about hellgate up until I heard about the fees. I would rather play a real MMO if I am gonna fork over $xx a month. Plus if you DO subscribe, you give others a reason to charge a monthly fee for ANY server based game. I don't know about you but I rather not pay $10 a month to play starcraft II online or any other RTS/FPS game for that matter. I'l lwait and see what happens before I jup on this ame day one. These may be the same guys who made Diablo II but they do not have the backing they had at blizzard.

Yes there is you dumbass! - GoW - Oblivion - Some possible RPG on PSP - MGS sequel - GTA sequel - Syphon Filter sequel And thats just a list I pulled from under my nose. Theres tons more!Deepcut9

Pot....kettle...black...you get the idea. Aside from your 11 year old comment, I do not think anyone is jumping through flaming hoops to get at these games. It is nothing like what the other systems are offering. GoW is probably the tops on the list and since everyone and their grandma played oblivion on the PC, I do not think people are killing each other to play it with dumbed down graphics on the PSP.

As much as I like my PSP (cannot get into why since it would be breaking the forum rules, but you get the idea) As soon as HGL comes out, my PSP will probably collect dust for a while.

Besides GoW, there is not too much to look forward to at E3 for the PSP. The only other games I play are on the PC and that looks a lot better...Starcraft 2, Hellgate London etc.

I'm waiting for a nice little MMO to come out on PSP but I doubt that will happen at all. I'm just kinda miffed at the lack of games for the PSP at E3.

[QUOTE="Edeescam"]

The problem is, The Force Unleashed is not going to be on the PC. So there goes any chance of even playing something that may be close to Jedi Knight.

A lot of companies are starting t give the shaft to the PC. Xbox 360 and PS3 and Wii will be seeing the majority of games now. I guess it is easier to design games for consoles because you already know your limits in terms of the hardware. When making a PC game, you have to make it compatible with different CPU's, GPU's, OS, plus different variations of those.

I think i nthe future you will not see many of these "niche" games on the PC, but rather the consoles. Only big name games like Starcraft, Halflife, Warcraft etc will be on the PC's. If you want to game, you will have to own both a PC ad console.

BounceDK

I'm just waiting for Mass Effect to be released and then I'll quit pc gaming. Constant upgrades every year is getting silly. Tough!

I never spend that much on upgrades a year. I may spend a few $$ here and there but I maybe build a new comp every 4 years or so. Problem with consoles is you have to spend $500+ to get the console, controller and game, then another $60 per game and ALL you can do is play games. I build a pc that will last 4 years and I can do everything on it.

Plus the PC crowd is a bit more mature. I hear too many stories of all the kiddies on xbox live etc and their moms in the backround yelling at them. I'll stick to PC gaming for now, especially since DX 10 s coming out.

Back on topic, it is a shame there is no more JK games in the future. It was one of the better franchises out there. Plus if they are not making another KOTOR, the chances of another JK game is slim.

I really liked this series and Jedi outcast was the game that sucked me into it. The best part was the lightsaber combat and having to work to obtain your lightsaber. The multiplayer was pretty good too and I spent many hours playing.

Jedi Academy, while good, was basically a glorified expansion, more than a stand alone game. However it did bring a new story along with a few new improvements, but it kept the same graphics engine.

It has been a few years now and I am surprised they have not made a new game yet. Now with DX10, the graphics can be vastly improved and it could really be a nice game. Here are some things I would love to see in a new JK game:

-Space combat-

being able to fly around, take on missions, dogfight, and land on a planet to chase someone down would be a nice addition.

-Graphics-

a new graphics engine with improved effects along with the solid gameplay we came to know and love.

-progression-

work your way from a padawan to a jedi knight OR be a jedi knight and take on an apprentice who comes along and fights alongside you.

-new force powers-

instead of just a handful, have a wide selection of force powers at your disposal.

These are just a few ideas, but you get the idea. There is a lot here to work with, especially with the story. You could take on the role of a sith or you can take on he role of kyle katarn or jaden etc. Or have it where your choices determine if you go to the lightside or dark (like KOTOR).

Any thoughts?

I was really looking forward to this game, however after hearing about this "elite" option where I have to pay $9.95 is ridiculous.

When EQ came out it was $9.95 which was pretty fair. New, huge MMO, lots of character slots, good in game GM support and GM run events etc.

Then the next tier of MMO's came out, charging $14.95. People complained but handed over the money anyway. All of a sudden, $9.95 was not enough anymore (and current games offer a lot less support than EQ did originally) I remember playing EQ in its early days, when you got stuck, a GM would come pretty quick in most cases an help you out. They would have events etc too.

Now since these companies know people will fork over money to play a game they like, they are going to do it. So now because of that, everyone and his dog is gonna try to find a way to charge a fee for a game that is not a MMO. All in al, it is the customer thatis allowing the companies to charge the fees because the customer will always pay.
