Will this sucks.
I'm getting married in about 3 months from now and i'm sure my wife won't let me play diablo3 as she knows how much time i wasted on D2.
Talking about losing my balls as soon as i get married....but all married people are the same anyway.
but still sucks.
lol dude man, i cant stress enough how....no marriage should make a person end something they enjoy. If your wife enjoyed lets say...riding horses as a hobby, would you want to make her stop just because you sign a piece of paper? Come on, dont let some woman take your balls like that, its no so not worth it. Take it from someone that had an ex like that, and someone thats now married and can game as he pleases. Its all about balance....dont sit and play 12 hour sessions, but spend time with the wife then do some gaming...i know what works for my wife and i, but you got to figure that out. Honestly...and dont take this the wrong way, no girl, no nothing, will make me stop things i enjoy....that is imho a bunch of mularky, anyone who lets that happen....like a good friend of mine, is just a shell of who he was...its sad, its not worth it.Ok im still in learning mode but i think im getting some things down, but not sure still on a few things.
When you place your city, there are 8 surrounding spaces. Are these the most pivotal spots to place buildings? So when i pick a city, i want to look for what 9 blocks can make for a good area? Or is it mainly based on the tile that your city sits on as to what it has, like is it best to sit it on gold, hammer or food?
Also...roads, what all needs connected via roads? I know city to city, but what else?

I see the concept and understand the winning goals, it just seems like a massive overload of info really. Like learning technology, it seems kind of like all over the place a bit or like im just picking stuff to pick it with no rhyme or reason, what should i be doing for the most part in terms of technology or what should i be going for?Baranga
Think what kind of civilization type you want (focused on economy, culture, conquest etc) and pay attention to the description of every technology. There's a small panel that shows you what items and further technology it unlocks, and another panel with Sid's tips. That's all you need to know.
See thats the thing, im just not gifted in the area of economy or anything of that sort. I just never really took it to heart, so i dont know the fundamentals really. I got my nation going, ive eared over 100 gold and im still not sure what im doing or have any method to the things im building, thats where im like lost at because i feel like i dont understand what im exactly doing, even though im doing something im putting a waterfall here, a fort there...i mean how do you measure where these things should go? I also got a frownie face, but cant seem to get rid of it...where do i check what the issue is?EdgeOfThorns316
When you select a settler, the tiles show which one's the best for raising a city. Choose the ones with most food and gold.
When you select a worker, the tiles that are the best to build something on them are highlighted. You just need some common sense, think how the real-life buildings work and what resources they need.
Frownie faces indicate there's something wrong with a city. Open the city screen and you'll find info about the problem at the top. They're usually health problems: cities near jungles are subject to tropical diseases, maybe there's a building (like a foundry) that pollutes, or maybe there's not enough food or too few religious buildings.
All of the info helps here, it at least makes me realize how deep the game is. Which is great but also it does feel still overwhelming to really micro manage so much stuff...but im gonna keep giving it a go until it comes natural. I really want to love the game since i love turn based games and have for like 30 years now, i just got to get my mind realizing how deep this game is.Thanks guys, yea its pretty much my first and i heard alot about IV so i figured ill start there.

I mean whats weird is like i get the gist of it, and i start building and i understand about raising the population, raising culture, resources etc....but im still confused so much and i dont have like tons of direct questions, i just think im looking for a general outlook of what maybe i need to focus on or know.
Yea i did the tutorial, it helped in some things but not all quite yet.
If so come talk to me :p
I just am curious about some simple things to keep in mind. I feel the potential of greatness with this game, i bought the steam package and im excited for it all but im still stuck on the learning curve.
Whats a simple starting goal perhaps? I feel like there is SO much to learn here...did anyone else feel that way starting it up as well?
Really, i can head out of town? I didnt think i could..until i finished it off kind of like the starting little town and its quests. Or you mean i can do that once i have the mission from completing the temple quest? Am i able to always come back to ferdok once im out of the city? You need to head out of town and go to the swamps. You should get that mission once you've gone to the temple of Helisnde and cleared out the basement of blobbies.
bogaty
Ok heres my bag...now first and foremost, im loving the crap out of this game...but im at a standstill i think and need some ideas or maybe a new direction.
Im in ferdok, im lvl 4 with my main and the rest are like lvl 4 or 5. Well i started doing that rat quest, but im startin to get busted up...i got to floor 4 i think, but i notice my team just getting rolled now. I read that its a lvl 8 quest...and my thoughts are wow...where in the world am i going to get 8 levels, there are only so many places to fight in ferdok, and im getting 1+ exp on these rat kills.
What am i missing? I was goin pretty solid in the first city, but now im kind of treading water it seems. I cant seem to find any upgrades, i took up smithing but short sword or a saber seems like all i can make, the stats on the recipe showed 1D6 but after making it, its no different than the other weapons i have.
Im just kind of like not sure where to go or what to do right now, let me know what im missing.
Im thinking im missing one massive area, but ive unlocked the main areas except the dwarven district...is that a prime spot i need to bust open perhaps and start questing in there?
