It's still the kinect box. The whole thing was designed and build from the ground up to be a tv/kinect box that plays games, no updates or tuning wont change the hardware. They made it shit it'll always be shit
I think people just grew sick of MS at the end of last gen (Kinect, lack of 360 exclusives at the end, "timed" exclusive scams, etc). The whole DRM thing was the straw that broke the camel's back. They just pissed off too many gamers.
Momentum is not easy to get back. Look at Sony last gen. they basically spent all of last gen re-building from the mistakes with PS3 launch. Good chance that MS will spend all of this gen trying to win back the trust they lost - ironically their best chance to catch back up is that Sony is imitating alot of what MS was doing last gen (implementing pay schemes, more marketing scams, lack of exclusives, etc). However it will be tough to overcome the fact that XB1 is inferior console and everyone knows it.
I agree, I got sick of the whole kinect focus shit, so i went from 360 to ps4. Last straw was the reveal event with all tv, sports, forced kinect, DRM. What a fucking disaster. Weaker hardware doesn't help either. I see tons of people going from 360 to ps4 but nobody doing the opposite.
I dont care why it flopped, but im glad it did. It could have been a cash cow for Xpos, cheaply made, scrapped together casual garbage games sold at $60
@Shewgenja: Much agreed. 360 became the kinect halo gears forza cod, then xbone reveal was such a shit feast with tv & sports with some cod sprinkled at top. Will never buy that trash
