I think it depends on the game. Some new engines seem to look good as long as the frames stay above 30 fps most the time, including in action, with only minor dips below that. An RPG plays better at slower fps compared to a first person shooter.
On the other hand, a fast shooter like Unreal 2k4 really needs at least 55fps average, or more, hopefully. assuming you want to compete online.
i think most game manufactures sell games online and offer high speed downloads...or you could always try Ebay...mattisgod01
I bet the shipping would more more than the game...
i mean that pc gamers are kind of robed with the marketing scheme relesing a dx (direct x) after another ; don't get me wrong i like the evolutin of video games (been a gamer since 1998) but having to uppgrade all the time sux , i spend a lot of cash and i bet so did every pc gamer but engouh is engouh ;they must find a way to improve games desing , just think about it ....aceruber
The changes to future versions of dx, after dx10, are supposed to be more incremental than previously. Hopefullly that will cool things off in terms of hardware upgrades required to play new games. I agree, $1.5-3.5 k is a lot to spend every two or three years or so to be able to run the lastest games.
[QUOTE="Cra2y"] My plan, is to wait for Crysis which should come out around the holiday season. By then a new line of Dx10 cards should be out to. Maybe even become more affordable by then. domke13
There wont be a new line of cards when crysis comes out, only if crysis is delayed. New line of cards will come out in november, maybe oktober.
Crysis was most recently described as "pre alpha." Thus, who knows how long it could take to finish.
check out the new ATI 2xxx line.. compares to the 450 dollar 8800 cards.

I plan on getting a 8800GTS whhen there are handful of DX10games out.

I personally like to buy behind the curve, and get bang for the buck.... i almost never buy the newest high end card as soon as it comes out.... been in this game for a long time and it doesn't seem like an economically wise move over the long term... that just means that the card companies are dictating your spending habits and you are their biotch.
I spent 190 bux on my 1950 pro turbo 6 months ago, and in comparison, I have 400 left to spend off the guys who just bougght the fastest 8800. In a year that 400 will buy a faster card. If i wait 2 years, a much much faster card.
So I got Counter Strike Source, needless to say at the beginning I sucked, I still do but im improving. After just a day of playing alot of Counter Strike, 2-3 hours max my wrist is starting to hurt from the base of the hand down to the mid forearm. I just started why am I already experiecing pain? I don't even think 2-3 hours is long I kno people who pull 10 hour sessions and their wrists are fine. Im also an avid console gamer. Could using a pad contribute? What am I experiencing? PLEASE HELP

Being new, you are at greater risk. 1) take more breaks, 2) during the breaks streatch out your fingers and your hand, 3) try not to hold the mouse with too great force, keep hands relaxed while gaming, 4) listen to your pain, and don't play when you need to take a break.
If you go to far, you can get injured, of course, like from any other extreme computer use.
