Yeah, this is really bothering, I don't know why gamefaqs doesn't have specific files already converted for PSP, it just takes a person with a PS3 to convert them and re-upload them. It's not just FF9 too, it's almost all of the PsOne classics games.
Maybe it's because of the PSP Go, people going for the digital distribution and anything, some of them prolly go like: "Eh, screw it, I'm buying a PSP Go, I'm buying a handheld console to play while I'm away, not to carry UMDs with me as luggage, I have all I need on my PSN" And to be honest, some of the PsOne classics such as FF7, 8, 9 & Tactics are easily worth 200h and more hours of gameplay, and since most new games are digitally distributed, the PSP UMDs are slowly dying. Conclusion: The UMDs = Maybe The PSP as a console, both the 3000 and Go = Not a chance.
I agree, P3Portable, DEFINITELY. After that comes Dissidia, Final Fantasy 7: Crisis Core, MGS:Peace Walker (I also recommend MGS: Portable Ops as well, for the PSP), Jeanne d'Arc is also a great game, basically, just lurk around gamespot, you'll see the games are easily buyable, available to everyone, and above all, cheap.
It's a basic marketing tactic. Nothing to be amazed of. One day, it's just gonna strike us, and we'll see the big news: "Sony Officially Announced PSP2", then we'll all be happy, unless the price is really unreasonable, then people will still buy PSPs, instead of PSP2's.
It's never too late to get a PSP. Hell, I've got mine in April this year, and I've got a pretty average collection of games for it, and this is coming from someone who only bought games in his own country (which doesn't even have paypal, LOL) and I got half of those games off PSN. So yeah, give it a shot, the PSP2 isn't coming anytime soon, and even if it does, the PSP will always be a classic with the games such as FF7:Crisis Core, Dissidia and P3P on it.
