Because a lot of people are stupid. It's just that simple. Plus anonymity online gives people the facility to behave in ways they wouldn't in real life. This is why we see that stubborn and combative nature of people on the Net. As for those who are the same way in person, well, that's truly unfortunate. And no, there will be no end to this console war nonsense so long as people like this exist, alas.
@kerrman @Emerald_Scott Interesting point. I don't know why Joel didn't seem affected by her death. Every time she was brought up, he sternly didn't wanna talk about it - which means he was still somewhat affected? To be honest, Joel isn't quite a likeable character. While he has his moments and shines when he opens up to Ellie, for the most part he's pretty much a douchebag.
I still debate whether he did the right in the end. He was all, "I bring you the cure of for mankind and you wanna play pissy little brother??" when he met Tommy, so I didn't quite understand his actions at the end of the game. Perhaps he grew attached to Ellie and got reminded of Sarah. That's why, I think.
