Well the us already has one off the lowest levels of minimum wage compared to average income when compared to other counttries in the world and its probably a good idea to have as many people as possible earning a liveable wage especially when over 70% of your countries economy is from consumer spending

That wont solve anything.

Want the answer? Look to switzerland.

Switzerland every year for decades has been ranked 1 or 2 in the world for the lowest violent crimes and gun related violent crime in the world.

Despite the fact every swiss citizen is issued weapon and ammunition by the government and attends annual training on how to use the guns. More or less if you live in switzerland youre required to own a gun.

Why? Because the swiss are happy people. They have the lowest crime because they have a very high employment rate, people there can earn a living wage just about anywhere, they have some of the best medical coverage in all of europe, they have a very good education system, and so on.

So if you dont want violent crime to dominate your society then you need a government that allows its citizens to have jobs, good health care and good education which in turn leads to a happier society. A happy society is a much less violent one.

Sorry but get your facts right Switzerland does not and has never issued guns and ammunition to all citizens

I think the misconception comes from the fact that a rather large segment of the population, upon turning 18, is given the option of either going to university or joining civil defense and putting in like two years training or something.  Upon finishing, I believe they are essentially issued a rifle and gear.  It is basically like being in the army reserve, only you take your gear home with you.

This is at least what I read like 10 years ago, so take it with a grain of salt, I may be wrong lol.

I think in the end the Swiss people have more automatic rifles and artillery pieces per capita than most other countries.

The structure of the Swiss militia system stipulates that the soldiers keep their own personal equipment, including all personally assigned weapons, at home (until 2007 this also included ammunition[3]). Compulsory military service concerns all male Swiss citizens, with women serving voluntarily. Males usually receive initial orders at the age of 18 for military conscription eligibility screening. About two-thirds of young Swiss men are found suitable for service, while alternative service exists for those found unsuitable.[4] Annually, approximately 20,000 persons are trained in basic training for a duration from 18 to 21 weeks (increased from 15 weeks, in 2003).

All in all it says that about 5% of the population are professional soldiers (i.e. active military), while 200,000 (down from 400,000 during the 90s) are in militia, which the above text applies to

In some 2001 statistics, it is noted that there are about 420,000 assault rifles (fully automatic, or "selective fire") stored at private homes, mostly SIG SG 550 models. Additionally, there are some 320,000 semi-auto rifles and military pistols exempted from military service in private possession, all selective-fire weapons having been converted to semi-automatic operation only. In addition, there are several hundred thousand other semi-automatic small arms classified as carbines. The total number of firearms in private homes is estimated minimally at 1.2 million to 3 million.[7][broken citation] In 2005 over 10% of households contained handguns, compared to 18% of U.S. households that contained handguns. In 2005 almost 29% of households in Switzerland contained firearms of some kind, compared to almost 43% in the USA.

[QUOTE="KHAndAnime"]Maybe if they elected politicians with better police policies, then maybe crime would be reduced? Pay more taxes to get the job done? No?Gargus

[QUOTE="Solaryellow"]Hold on there for a minute. If someone lacks a skill or education that provides a wage or salary that can sustain all they need, why in the heck is it MY responsibility to subsidize the extra money they need by allowing them to get on the government rolls? When do we start pushing people to do for themselves and better their lives instead of making complete strangers pay for their existence?

Ontheother hand if there is no one to work in all these retail outlets ,clean the streets, collect garbage and so on that may be a problem

[QUOTE="TruthTellers"]What would really help people is if they weren't taxed to death like the working slaves they are now. All this tax money goes to funding entitlement programs and I'll tell you that there's no way that being on government assistance helps increase ones social mobility, in fact, it inhibits it. The sole purpose for government now is tax, tax, tax. If you have a job, you get taxed. If you own land, you get taxed. If you have a car, you get taxed. If you buy something that's not food, you get taxed. If you don't have health insurance, you get taxed. I'M SICK OF ALL THESE F*CKING TAXES! At this rate, I think the only thing that's going to give people any social mobility today is through illicit criminal activities or total anarchy. If your not born into any amount of wealth, you ain't gettin' any wealth no matter how hard you work.

Well about 22% does

No and if it benefits the company even in the slightest they should move overseas. It is all about the bottom line if people are willing to work for peanuts then pay them peanuts in fact pay them less than that, its their fault for not getting a better education anyway.
