I have a 42 inch Hi Def TV that is 1080P and I have a HMDI cable plugged in the back of it... my question is, what settings should I put my 360 to?
On the back of the boxes, it says it's 1080P and I've heard people say that all the games are actually 720, just upscaled... so I really don't know what to do, would it look better if I was to put the imput as 720, or keep it as 1080?
All the remaining actions have been completely REVAMPED. Full 3d camera rotation wasnt even in the series UNTIL MGS3 Sub, but MGS4 did it BETTER. first person aim and you can move freely in both. Corner peaking, shooting is as smooth as can be. All things like ledge hanging, obstacle climbing, wall pressing, interaction etc. have been routed to one context sensitive button... Taking a hostage while shooting wasnt nearly as REFINED and want even around until MGS3. CQC has never been as in depth...
all those lines share one thing in common, going back to previous games, and a lot of those gaming elements originally started with Sons Of Liberty. The only thing that has got better is obviously the technology. The few things like playing dead.... come on, that's not being realistic at all and does not help the so called tactical aspect of the game. If I was a highly trained soldier and I saw the rotting corpse of someone who should not be there, what is the first thing I'd do? Shoot it to make damn sure he's dead. The camo suit just... just kills the game. Now it's a simple case of hide in a corner and become one with the wall or floor, or whatever the heck you lie against. I also dislike the whole.... "You've been discovered, hide till the timer stops, or better yet..... just go back into another section and it resets itself" If they wanted to make it exciting, if you're discovered, they do not let their guard down till you've been found and killed.
As for not playing the game, I haven't played it in depth as you have, that's for certain, but while playing it, I haven't felt any difference playing this Metal Gear Solid than the previous two, namely Snake Eater & Sons Of Liberty, perhaps that's due to not really being able to push the genre any more than it's already been pushed. It just hasn't caught my attention at all. I've played it for about 5 or 6 hours before I got bored of it. It's just not a gaming sensation as many people claim it to be, that's my opinion, which I'm entitled to without having to be insulted for it.
Have I ripped the game to shreds, yes I have, am I the only one who doesn't like it? Definetely not, do the majority of people like it.... I'd say, 7 out of 10 people favor Metal Gear Solid, does that make them idiots or wrong... No, they just have different tastes, expectations and opinions. The topic is, "Is Metal Gear Solid 4 the best game ever" and my answer to that is HELL NO, not by a long shot. Sound wise, graphics wise, it's flashy and bling bling but for me, it lacks all substance to what I call true gaming greatness. It's not something you can compare to the likes of Mario 64 or Zelda (Before anyone calls me a fangirl) or the magnificence of Final Fantasy VII or the psychological effect of games like Silent Hill 2 or the atmospheric content of the likes of Doom on the Xbox.
Are Kojima and his team good game designers, yes of course they are. They made a product that appeals to the vast majority and has made an absolute bomb shell financially. Has it revolutionised the current videogame industry... no not really, not to what I would call a revolution. Someone else pretty much summed it all up, best game ever, game of the year etc etc is all a matter of opinion.
My brother loves Metal Gear, he even went out of his way to sell his old console (To me for free lol) to buy himself the Metal Gear Solid version of it, the flashy console and the like. He collects all the action figures, books, anything he can lay his hands on that's Metal Gear Solid related, it's his thing and I appreciate that, but it's just not for me. I prefer Splinter Cell for my tactical espionage games.
As for people saying "OWNED" etc etc, you can't be "owned" for an opinion of a game. It's merely a difference of opinion and it's my own fault really, this is the wrong place to have a proper discussion about things like this. Next time, I'll just come across as a mindless automoton.
