I don't know either, my guess is it's all prostetics, and has something to do with the doctor in Eastern Europe, either that or just the military doctors do it.

In the Database it says that the Patriots experimented with him and exoskeletons, I think that's the reason.

These two games are from the same universe, but they aren't "connected"...
