Bruce Lee with out a doubt.. The man has fought to defend his life on numerous occassions from many pissed off people that wanted him dead.. There are numerous testaments where litterally people would hop over his fence in the backyard and basically challenge him to fight to the death.

Jet Li is good, but he never fought in such areas.. All of his fights have been in competitions where there are rules.

According to your logic, Rickson Gracie is the greatest fighter who ever lived. But in reality, he's not even in the discussion. Neither is Bruce Lee. Or Jet Li. Between the two, however, and based on their training, I have to agree that Lee would beat Li a majority of the time.
