I turn my wii off by holding the Wiimote Power button until the light on the wii turns orange. I'm lazy and don't want to bend down to press the power button on the wii. (It's placed horizontaly because I have a wavebird reciever;))
Actually I loved Mario Kart, the only downfall was that the battle mode wasn't as good as well as I liked, but apart from that, I loved it!!! ( I gave it a 9/10.)
Note I have only played: 2mins Super Mario Kart (Emulated), Mario Kart 64 for ages (Awsome game, but after playing Mario Kart Wii its hard to get back to.) 2mins on Mario Super Curcuit (Like 1 min emulated, 1 min on my friends GBA SP) Never played Double Dash, 5 min on Mario Kart DS.
