Okay, well i'm going to start off by saying this; I will get a PS3 because of the FF series but only when the price goes down on the console. Just because a lot of people will buy it at launch doesn't mean i have to. Okay, I'm into computers, and not just because of games. I'm actually interested in the technology that goes into them, and this includes consoles since face it, they are another form of a computer. They are dedicated for games. One of you earlier said that for the price of a PS3 the comparable videocard costs as much. Well this is untrue unless you buy the recently released videocard line-up from Nvidia and ATI uping the onboard memory from 256mb DDR3 to 512mb of DDR3, then in that case, yes you are paying about the same price for the console as you would have for the videocard. *this is in Canadian prices, since i don't think i want to get to far into economics right now.* Oh and apparently the same GPU/VPU that is in the PS3 is the Geforce 7900 series...i can't remember the GPU designation and don't feel like looking it up, sorry. Obviously the one in the PS3 will be at a better advantage due to the software *IE Operating system..since lets face it, your hardware is useless if it doesn't know what to do with it all* being more dedicated for gaming. It should be noted by all of you Microsoft *yeah, boo all you want, but they get things done, and introduce new technology...bash them all you want but realize you use their products everyday (the majority of you anyways.)* is releasing a new operating system, obviously most of you have heard about it, VISTA and DirectX10. For those of you who do not know what DirectX does, it allows manufacturers to code for products to be used on computers without too many conflicts between hardware and programs etc. This is important, as another one of our posters pointed out, the xbox 360 uses similar architecture to a PC because it is cheaper for Microsoft and developers to create things for it. The easier it is to code for a system, usually means the better the quality that system can produce. The reason i state this is that VISTA and DirectX 10 will allow much more of a PC's hardware to be used. Such as how many CPU cores can be used by a given motherboard, does it support it, etc. Like WindowsXP 32-bit edition, the maximum amount of memory that the SOFTWARE can make the CPU use, is 2gbs. After that, evne if you put 4gbs of memory in, the software will not be able to recognize it, nor use it to any effect. *WindowsXP 64-bit edition does not have this limitation.* Well the new operation system for PC's will allow more hardware to be used effectively, which means better quality programs.
