They should have made the Wii U a way more powerful console with motion controls as an extra to everything else, sorta like the microsoft kinect or ps3 move stuff, but with stronger hardware than those old consoles.

For example, what I would have changed with the Wii-U or if I were to build a new Nintendo console, the hardware would be an AMD 6100 as its CPU, GPU would be an AMD 7770 Ghz edition, a single stick of 8GB 1600mhz ram, its onboard storage would be a 250Gb Western Digital Velociraptor Hard Drive (No onboard flash storage, 230 GB of space is available for save data, movies etc; but the leftover space is always reserved for system/OS storage) and a single usb 3.0 port alongside an sd card reader.

I would have kept the blu-ray optical disc, as well as the audio card they initially chose. Now imagine that, as what the Wii-U could have been or what could be a worthy successor as a new Nintendo console.

@Total_mischief @Evil_Rage I know that its not any easier, I just would like to have choice in PC gaming again. Yeah, I wait for the day game developers utilize blu-ray discs and offer us the option of either Steam or true retail, like the old days, buy, install, play.

I agree with what he's saying about graphics. Graphics do enhance the gameplay. High resolution visuals and high quality animations can really pull you into the world, especially if it has as a good story, like Fallout: New Vegas, I can only imagine what Fallout: New Vegas would have been like if it was running on Crytek's engine. I don't know about the rest of my fellow PC gamers, but that would look amazing on PC. The thing is, games with high fidelity graphics, sound and animations badly need a new physical storage medium, especially on PC.

I for one believe games should start utilizing the space on blu-ray for those who want to buy their game with minimal DRM of an offline disc key and who want to install it from disc and be able to make backup copies,. But keep Steam or whatever online drm around, for those who want to download 24 gigabyte, and for 50GB Blu-ray discs, 48 gigabyte games. I will of course choose the easier and simpler option of buying the game on whatever blu-ray size it comes on, installing the game with its disc check, and playing the game while other people would rather sit around downloading it before playing. I know I usually mention something about blu-ray in my posts, but its because to me, its a long overdue obvious upgrade to dual layer dvds and a desirable alternative to Steam and online drm in general, because I feel I should have a choice in the method I purchase my game. I don't understand why anyone would be opposed to blu-ray being a suitable replacement for dual layer dvds and a suitable alternative to buying from Steam or any online drm.

I've got a few ideas. Scrap a Sleeping Dogs sequel if it means Hitman and Tomb Raider get more polish, especially on PC. I've said this before, but I'll say it again. Remove the multiplayer aspect from these single player oriented games. Nothing. No co-op, no multiplayer deathmatch. Nothing. Don't waste time or financial resources on it. Utilize resources to make Tomb Raider an engrossing open world full of exploration, wild animals, enemy npcs to contend with, things to discover in tombs, multiple endings and to make it better, make single player dlcs to expand upon the story with more endings, as well as side stories with possible endings of their own, full of new content, like new weapons and equipment, new outfits, with new enemies to face, more tombs and places to explore.

As for making a new Hitman, remove the multiplayer and allocate resources into the single player. As I am disgusted with the story of absolution, I feel like Agent 47 should be the main focus for the next game and the girl? I found her to be a forgettable waste of time. I want the next game to be Agent 47's story, with no mention of absolution whatsoever. As for single player dlc, new weapons, new suits/costumes that can be used any time in the story, and new sets of missions to complete should be enough.

Then, put the games on blu-ray for PC (as an alternative to steam please) with the minimal drm of a simple key input, before installation (unlimited installs) and have the retail be 40 US dollars. I know I'd buy that on release day and will definitely buy the blu-ray complete edition with all the DLC on disc when that comes out. Just to add a side note about DLC, preorder DLC is fine, but the PC and consoles should all be treated equally and get all game DLC, no exclusive console only nonsense, and please no Day 1 DLC either.

@jmace1 At their core, that's what they both are, and both fail miserably to stop piracy anyway. My point is we don't even have a choice. I would like an alternative to exist. It wouldn't matter to me if I had a choice in the matter. What is wrong with the option of buying our PC games on blu-ray with nothing between the game and us besides an install key? Steam and Origin are both not optional, and to me their both worse than what I want.

I can't go out and buy any game on PC without Steam or Origin nowadays, blu-ray? that doesn't exist for PC games either. If I could, then I would. How can you say Steam is optional?, you're just as much forced to use it as Origin. I know Steam has sales, but those solely exist to get people into their service in the first place. My problem is that we have NO choice in the matter for either service, and this should not be the case.

I'm not surprised. No, Steam isn't superior. Steam, Origin, doesn't matter the name. They both are online forms of DRM, and no its not done right, either. What we seriously need is to adopt blu-ray as the new optical standard for PC, all the space is there for PC games. Why? I want to have a choice besides Steam or Origin. If I had the choice, I'd buy the blu-ray PC game with a simple code, unlimited installs and no online requirement whatsoever, much simpler. If its a multiplayer game, you host your own games and it shows up in a server browser for anyone who wants to join. Again, a return to simplicity, but with the storage space of blu-ray.

There's absolutely no reason why these games could not be released on PC. PCs nowadays are more than capable of running this game. PCs could have easily run Metal Gear Solid 4 back then, and probably on the maxed settings now, even at 2560x1600. What is wrong with making a PC version of these games? An open world Metal Gear Solid game, and no confirmation of a PC release?

They need to ditch the multiplayer nonsense with hitman and tomb raider. Seriously. Single player focused games like hitman and tomb raider should NOT have multiplayer, they should have been expanded to be big open world sandboxes full of sidequests and a main quest, but lots of room to explore at the very least, especially with current PC technology. As for DLC there should be additional content like new areas to explore with new quests, new weapons, equipment like costumes, outfits, etc; more content in general, not map packs.

Things like this just make me wish my fellow PC gamers (besides just me) would have pushed for and supported blu-ray as an option for drm free physical copies, with the only "drm" being a short key code anytime you wanted to install (unlimited installs allowed). That's "drm" done right for me.

It's been said that Steam is DRM done right, well, not for ME or anyone else who does not support it or any service like that of EA/Origin or anything else. If we had pushed for and supported blu-ray pc games, we wouldn't need Steam, Origin or anything else. Those services would be unnecessary because single blu-ray discs can hold 25-50GB of game data (now there's even bdxl, although I doubt games would need 128GB of data storage, but I suppose it could happen). I know those would be games I would pay for, I refuse to pay for drm laden digital games, I want my physical blu-ray game in its blu-ray case with no Steam, no Origin, nothing, just buy, install with code and play. Backups? Copy it to your external drive, there you go.
