Ever since that terrible worth of a game Call of Duty: Marathon Warfare 2 has been out and that news about the slots in the Battlefield 3 beta being given away in the already full of technically useless stuff Medal of Honor reboot.
I seem to notice that the FPS genre is going downhill (aka. Bad, Bad, Badder, Worse, etc.). Companies are milking the genre out too much to the point that the milk coming out isn't even drinkable. I know some of you are saying that like "money constraints" or "inside disagreements" can put a game down (which, yes, they can). But still, my point is that there are those companies (you know who you are) who make use of big game titles (Call of Duty as an example), start making low-quality games and afterwards lets their Public Relations or watchamacallit people start advertising and making the game look awesome. The usual effect is a massive hype spree that wherein most people won't generally notice the poor quality.
It saddens me, really. From becoming one of the best genres of games to now becoming one of the worst and most repetative of all. Though there are those occasional glimps of hope in the genre because of games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. or the soon the Fallout: New Vegas. But as long as most publishers/developers will keep on counting their earnings and not try to put more effort in story telling or gameplay, the genre is heading to its own grave.
