People didn't scream because the Xbox One came with a disc drive. People want to own the games they buy, without restrictions on loaning or selling. I think you are missing the point, Microsoft.
You are saying some good things here, Patrick Soderland. I shall wait to see if EA can follow through. I would hope for some more fair pricing, and not dangling carrots in the form of microtransactions.
This article makes a very strong case against free-to-play business models. Imagine spending hundreds of dollars in a free to play game. You love the game, but it gets shut down due to low playerbase.
