Does anyone else have a problem with their PS3 sometimes showing in black & white?

Sometimes i start it up from standby mode and it's in colour on the XMB but then i go into a game and the game is in black and white. Sometimes it's vice versa.. i'm playing a game in colour then i quit the game and the XMB is in black & white.

I'm using PS2 component cables because i had them from when i had my PS2 and the PS3 has the same connector so i thot they would work. Would they have anything to do with the problem?

i just have a couple questions about monoprice.com. If u know the answers i'd appreaciate it. First, i see that they are located in California. Do they ship to Canada?. Second, have u ever bought from them? Are they a reputable company? And third, i'm just double checking that networking cables WILL work with my PS3 to my modem.
