Well here's a question. Why can't you get both? I can understand not being able to get both at the MOMENT, but I think they're both definitely worth picking up eventually.

If I had to guess which one will have more and better mods, I'd say UT3. However, at the same time, the Crysis mod scene has been pretty vibrant and the sandbox is very easy to use.

But like I said at the beginning of this post, get both, eventually. ;)

Too many to list. Some imported, some downloaded, some boxed. Price is usually the main thing I look for in buying games, of which, in my opinion, most are too expensive. Unless it's felt a "must-own immediatly" type of game (Cryis, Call of Duty 4), I'll wait and find the best place/price to pick it up.

Needless to say, there were way too many good games this year. Definitely went over my budget and ate sandwiches daily for awhile. =P

Favorite games (for PC, off the top of my head) I picked up this year though:

- Call of Duty 4

- Crysis

- Supreme Commander (and Forged Alliance)

- World in Conflict

- The Orange Box (Portal especially)

- The Sims 2 expansions (for my girlfriend mainly, but I still love dabbling into them as well)

- Rainbow Six: Vegas

- Unreal Tournament 3

- Oblivion Expansion Shivering Isles

Honorable mentions (although not quite my favorites):

- Bioshock

- Gears of War (much better than the 360 version for me)

- The Witcher

- Command & Conquer 3

- New Sam & Max

I never really got the feel of throwing objects at people becuase I had to be stealthy through out the whole time if I didn't want to get shot at.SoberWarock

Yeah, it's worth replaying just to do that though. I've replayed it a couple times, and I do prefer stealth. Getting in and out of situations and objectives with as little conflict, or taking down the enemy silently. I was watching a friend play some scenes and he never takes the ease of stealth with this game into account that often, and instead ends up fighting dozens of guys at once (and dying often). Every time I watch their play I remember the levels they're currently on being relatively easy just sneaking around and picking off only those I needed to. But as Gamespot's reviews have pointed out, that's really where the gameplay shines in this game, with the many different ways of going about things.

I did like how everything was able to be picked up though. Even simple things, like how in Far Cry you always had a "throw rock" button. In this, you actually have to find a stone lying in the woods or on the ground (of which there are many), and then throw it to cause a distraction.

Well that's good to know (no point reductions that is).

Still, if anyone is already signed up, is there a way to contact the site, maybe an address that you could provide? I don't see any way of doing so on it, unless you have to already be a member first. I would love to try it with my friends or just other people in general. It looks like it could be fun for multiplayer, but I can't get past the registration process. And yes, I have checked my junk mail.

Maybe he already played the other ones? *shrugs* I only have TF2 and Portal installed at the moment. I played the new HF episode twice, once through normal, and then once for the commentary, then uninstalled it. On the other hand, I can't stop replaying Portal every now and again. It's crazy.

Can't speak on behalf of the 360 version. TF2 is pretty fun and can be addicting, at least for the PC. I haven't seen a lack of players for the most part. More maps and variety would have been nice.

And yes, each game can be installed individually. The Orange Box is worth owning for Portal alone (you can purchase it by itself though).

Gameplay wise, I think it's still top notch. One of the best RTS available as far as ultimate balance goes between three, TRUELY unique races. It may not be what you're used to compared to many different, but very good RTS that have been released just in the past year, but it's still great for the story at least.

Graphics, I don't think it's aged at all either. It was made with 2d visuals which still look just as good today as it did back then. A bit cartoony and cool at the same time. If you're used to realism and size compared to units and their buildings, that may throw you off. But if that kind of thing does, so will it in Starcraft 2, because that aspect doesn't look like it's changed.

And as I said before, the story is pretty great, something Blizzard is also known for. The superb voice acting also helps in this regard. You'll also probably definitely benefit from knowing it, should you end up playing the sequel that (hopefully) will be released next year.

If you're a PC gamer, you may have heard of this.

But before I continue, I would like to say I'm sorry, but I'm not trying to "advertise". I'm sorry if it appears as though I am. I didn't sign up for a GameSpot account over four years ago with intentions to sneakily plug a website that doesn't even come out until 2008, and make dozens of random posts related to other games that have never advertised anything ever before.

I had a thread on this up temporarily that was closed, and I was warned for "Spam/Advertisement". All I did was come to a forum which I THOUGHT was based around games and game discussion to ask a simple question about a particular type of new GAMING. You wouldn't close my topic and warn me for asking a question about World of Warcraft and whether or not anyone else is having problems signing up, would you? Or whether or not they've been able to sign up for a new beta or not?

Besides, it says this right under the "Advertisement" part of the Terms of Service Agreement:

Users are allowed to include their web site address in a signature, request comments on their personal site in a social setting, or provide, only once, an interesting or relevant link to another site.Gamespot TSA

I believe I was well within that realm.

Not to mention that would be a pretty lame plug of me to advertise a site that ISN'T WORKING, the whole point of my original topic.

Which brings me back to my original question. The site for 3d browser gaming (WHICH GAMESPOT HAD A NEWS ARTICLE ON) is NOT WORKING for me, and I'm wondering if anyone else is having any problems getting in, or if they have been able to get in? I've tried signing up six times now, and they never send me an email or link to activate my account. I don't know what the problem is. Have they closed up and are not doing it anymore? I've tried searching for info about it, but nothing seems to indicate as such.

You can go to Gamespot's information about it here at the link below, as I fear mentioning the site name or anymore information about it will get my thread closed again for "advertising", when all I want is some help and/or information about this beta and games.

http://www.gamespot.com/news/6179092.html?tag=result;title;0

There was also this Gamespot Q&A that I found, which from the title I thought was saying that there was a fallout between InstantAction and GarageGames (which would be bad). I don't think that's what it was meaning though:

http://www.gamespot.com/news/6182495.html

All I know is that it looked interesting from the article I read in a magazine, and the news I read here on Gamespot. It's suppose to a be a high profile, "new" technology website from GarageGames, a major video game developer. I thought maybe it was because of the Christmas days that they weren't responding (although that tidbit of information on their site would have been nice). I tried signing up again on the 26th and the 27th, and still did not receive any reply.

Any help or info would be much appreciated.

No, I agree completely.  It's just a tad tedious that you'd turn this thing off and it would automatically restart itself immediatly afterwards.  That should only be reserved for programs that are felt absolutely necessary to keep an OS running properly (IE the OS is designed that way), or some anti-virus's/firewalls.  "Shady" is one way of putting it I guess.

There have been many RTS that have come out that I've enjoyed immensely. Many that I like better to play than Starcraft. But no RTS has come out since Starcraft that I've found to have a better balance between three completely, literally different factions, which also results in some of the best strategic online gameplay.  In this sense, I believe Starcraft is by far the best RTS out there. I also think it's one of the best games to age. It still looks good visually, IMO, as the day it came out. If it came out today, I'd still think it looks pretty well.

And for the record, even though there ARE other RTS I'd probably rather play today, I have yet to play an RTS that I played longer than Starcraft. I played it avidly for about three years straight.

Never mind the story line and voice acting.  Blizzard is gold with this in it's games, and Starcraft was brilliant in that department.
