i installed a 4400+ duo core from a 3500+ and when i started it up and would just beep and shut off the first time. i tried again and it started up fine. it went to the desktop like normal and my computer read it fine. then it said my computer needed to be restarted for some reason so i clicked yes.
I then opened bios to make sure it read it fine and it did and then i exited and now it wont start up and all i get are beeps. i tried resetting the ram, video card, replugging in the HDD.
What i found odd is that the fan plug for the new one had 4 holes to be connected to the motherboard. My old one had 3 holes. But it fit just fine and spun just fine.
help?!
i have no experience with sli but i know its just remove and replace. Put the driver disk in once you got your computer booted up and you should be good to go. you wont have to worry for awhile though haha
I bought a PSU from a friend and at the time he told me it was 450 watts. I have a 2600XT in my system right now that requires a 400watt PSU and i overclocked it a tiny bit and have had zero problems. I'm about to switch out my 3500+ for a 4600+ that i got super cheap.
Will I encounter problems?
When I open my case and look on my PSU and I see nothing really. There is a stock with A03, A05... and such and has numbers 1-12 on the bottom and 1-3 on the right side with the number 4 on the bottom checked and the 3 on the right side checked. Any way to determine my watts from that just to be positive?
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2905653 this processor is 17$ more than the 5000+ black edition and clocks at 2.8 ghz and comes with a fan. Is that more worth it than buying the black edition one and then a heatsink/fan since im not overclocking?
EDIT: the 5000+ uses 65w compared to the 5400+ 89w, will this be a problem or no?
