I have a GTX 260 896Mb videocard and 4Gb of ram although with 32-bit Vista it only shows 3.2, Also have a onboard 8200 GPU for Hybrid-Sli which is turned off at the moment, (In the Bios and Nvidia control panel) And the tests show I have 2.2GB of video ram. Where is the remainder coming from if I have the onboard disabled? Even if I had it enabled, that still doesn't come up to 2.2GB sooo..... It's not counting in any of the HDD's page file or maybe the 2Gb thumb drive I'm using for readyboost (Or whatever it's called in Vista) is it?

Do you have your heart set on AMD?

If you mean the CPU? Yeah, I already have the Phenom II 940 x4 BE.

Yeah, I saw those reviews as well..... I read almost every page of those reviews and while there were alot of complaints there seemed to be just as many "This board is great" ones as well. I'm willing to bet that most of the people having problems were probably suffering from the Ol' ID 10 T errors... lol. I have come to find that most of the users on that site that give reviews have almost no idea that it's they're lack of ability and knowledgethat's getting in the way. BUT, If I happen to be one of the unfortunate ones as well then I guess I'll send it back for a different board. Like you I have used ASUS boards for years, and have never had any problems that didn't come from my own mistakes. (Or damage during shipping lol).

'Fingers crossed' though...

No opinions guys? Maybe I posted this a lil to late last night for anyone to see, so im givin it a lil bump b4 it gets pushed back into no-man's land......

Anyways, I just hope it is a DECENT board and there won't be any unexpected problems with it upon setup.... The biggest thing I'm wondering about is if I will need to flash my Bios to get it to recognize the 940 CPU, Hopefully it will work right out of the box.

I have a Phenom II 940BE that I originally had ordered a Biostar TF8200 Hybrid Sli boardto go with but that board had Bios problems... I RMA'd and went to replace it with the same one but they don't seem to be selling them now for some reason. (Maybe getting a bad 1 was lucky on my part...) Anyways, I went ahead and ordered this, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131320I know it's not the top of the line, And Hybrid Sli is on it's way out, (I just use the extra gpu for Physx stuff sometimes.)But here in another 6 months I plan on getting another GPU and getting a true SLi mobo setup so....

I'm basically just wondering if there are any tweaks I should look out for on this board that will give me the best performance for my setup, And any posssible problems that I might want to watch out for when setting it up?

Oh BTW, Just to make sure of something... This is the board I am using right now, Which SEEMS to be working fine. (But I don't think it is utilizing the CPU to it's fullest) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813135085 J

UST to make sure though... The ASUS board IS better than at least theECS board if not the Biostar as well right?

EDIT: Srry, I dunno if it's needed but the rest of the system specs are, (Well the important stuff...)

Oh my bad lol, Yeah, besides what I read about the voltage I had heard they were crap boards as well. BUT I'll use it till I get the other one if it will work. =)

EDIT: Why does it say this under the board name then? (For the Biostar TF8200) Says 140w Phenoms, Is that for the older ones or the newer ones getting ready to come out maybe? I dunno...

Since you just got this board, call up newegg and tell them that the board dident work when you got it. They'll probably send you a ups label to send it back and they'll send a new one. Not sure about newegg...but thats the way amazon and tiger handles things.beefdog
That is exactly what I'm gonna do lol. Hey, do you know if this board will actually work with the Phenom 2 940 BE 140w?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813135085

I have it here in the house. It was the board that I first ordered but read that it didn't support the 140w versions. By the time I found that out it was already being shipped, So I ordered the TF8200. But it says right on the box that it supports AMD Phenom quad processors. If nothing else maybe there is a bios update to fully support it, (Althought I dread the thought of doing this crap again...) I could at least use it till I get the replacement in the mail.

TF8200 AM2/AM2+
Phenom II x4 940 BE
GTX 260 896mb
4Gb G-skill (PC6200) 800

Everything went ok up until I had to flash the Bios of course....
I downloaded this .BST file to a USB flash drive (which is the same file I used for the Bios update)
http://www.biostar-usa.com/app/en-us/mb/bios.php?S_ID=353

Got into the Bios on first startup, I go to the utility within the Bios and I start the proccess. It says "Progamming!!" for like 10 mins and nothing happens there is a big rectangular white block on the screen (I'm assuming it is the status indicator) that never turned to green or any other color.

I tried to use the keyboard and there was no response, SO.... I restarted the system. I know, bad move, (I'm pretty sure it was frozen up anyways..) Unless it takes longer than 10 mins to flash. Anyways, I restart and of course I get nothing. Not even a signal to my monitor. Now the status Led that says memory will flash 2 times on startup then maybe 10-20sec later, it will flash 2 more times. I was getting 2 beeps with it as well but not now. ( I think that is a problem with my case, heard it was a cheap speaker...)

I tried the whole CTR+HOME key combination on startup to try the recovery for bootblock or whatever it is called but I can't tell if it is even doing anything or if I am even doing it the right way...... GOD I hope there is a answer.

Thanks for any replies in advance. (Oh and if I left anything out just ask.)

My Corsair PSU has the CPU power plug split into two, A small cluster of four connectors on one 4 on the other. I can fit em both side by side on my board, One of em will only fit on one side and the other will go on both so I'm pretty sure I have them in the matching plugs. I just don't know if the CPU requires just 1 or both. I'm going to check the literature that came with the CPU but I figured I could get the answer here quicker. Thanks.
