I have been seriously slacking in High School, I am a Sophmore right now, and for my Freshman/Sophomore year, I have been in the 2.00s-3.00. I am seriously starting to worry that slacking is going to ruin my chances of getting into a good college...

Can somebody tell me truthfully if I am screwed or not...please?

TaintedEon

I hated high school and really sucked at it.  I graduated with a 2.75 GPA and made a mediocre score on the ACT, but I was able to get into a pretty good public university and earn an awesome scholarship in my second year.  I'm a senior now, with less than 24 credit hours left, and will graduate next spring with a 4.0.

Highschool means nothing.

The problem is that capitalists take rules and regulations for granted.  Capitalism would not function if people were not robbed of the right to defend their right to work and obtain the fruits of their labor.  As I mentioned before, capitalism would collapse if workers would not face legal consequences from killing their employers, seizing company capital, and working out an equitable form of distrobution.

Want true freedom?  Remove laws that prohibt theft, murder, or any violent activity that might allow an individual to survive better in society.  Don't like the sound of this?  I don't either.  We must be prepared to help people who suffer from moral laws and the artifical concept of the "free market."

I hate capitalism to be honest.  It's a disgusting, petty, and extremely limited means of human interaction -- it represents the lowest of ambitions, the cruelest forms of intent, and has successfuly managed to concentrate wealth into undeserving hands that are protected by moral laws.  But at the same time, I realize that a CONTROLLED form of capitalism is the best form of economics until we can fix the problem of scarcity.

America -- 7.5.

I'd like to live in a country that is more free.  I'm sick of religious superstition, "conservative" values, pop culture, and cut-throat capitalism hurting all but a tiny elite in society.

Not sure which countries would be better.  I hear Sweden and other Scandinavian countries are nice, =).

Heh if you are sick of religion then come to scandinavien, here there arent many religious people, it almost cant get more free :) And those that believe heavily in some sort of religion dosnt mind to see people bashing it, because we all have opionions, so you wont get beaten up by redneck types of people here :)

Plus you guys got wonderful cold weather, great standard of living, beautiful land, wonderful culture, awesome music, good government services, beautiful women, delicious food, blaaaaah!

I'm so jealous, =/.  I live in one of the worst parts of the US though (the Old South).  Parts of the US are so different that I bet it would not be so bad if I lived out on the West Coast or up in the North East.

But still, it doesn't sound like it would touch a place like Sweden, =/.

Stop saying Sweden all the time, Denmark is where you wanna be :)

Ahhh just kidding, i love sweden too, sweden, norway and denmark arent that different. So just pick one ;)

Denmark owns as well, but  I don't know too much about Norway.  Aren't they not in the EU?

...And what about those wacky Finlanders?! Gotta love weird slavic non-latin languages, lol.

I have always loved Nine Inch Nails performances from the 90s especially. They are great now, but in terms of energy on stage they lack alittle bit.

The first Nine Inch Nails performance i went to was back in 2000 and i'm pretty sure Trent was off his face, but either way the energy between him, Robin Finck and Chris Vrenna was awesome.

Terrible Lie and Sin from the Fragility era.

I'm not much of a fan of NiN, in fact I hate their music for the most part, but I must admit, they put on a pretty darn good live show (I've only seen one, an ex-GF dragged me to it).  Tons of energy.  Trent is great.  Now if he'd just drop the whole mass aggression, gothiness, and encorporate some progressive elements into his music, =/.

could you state your definition, and what your perception of american liberalism is?

In SHORT,

Euro "Classical" Liberalism -- Government, stay the hell away from the Economy, and the rights of free and good people.  (Similar to US libertarianism).  We don't need you!

American Liberalism -- Government, stay the hell away from the rights of free people, but be powerful and forceful enough to help those in need, control unequal economic intrests, and regulate the economy to a certain extent.

I don't think we can agree on this matter though, I'm far right (still rational though) and I can't see any dignity in relying on the government (refering to welfare and such matters).

Some people, for whatever reason, can not function in the artifical enviroment of the capitalistic consumer-state.  Their inadequacy does not rob them of human dignity, nor does it excuse the government -- who places a ton of equally artifical restrictions on such people -- from helping them in times of need.

We have robbed many of these people of their right to aquire wealth by imposing laws.  As I've argued before, "moral" laws (murder, theft, etc) that ensure human dignity are necessary, but we must be ready to aid those who are disadvanted by the law.  If a factory owner is protected by laws that ensure that his employees will not slit his throat, seize company machines, and split the fruits of their efforts fairly -- society should also impose laws that prevent people from exploiting others, and be ready to assist those who are disadvanted for whatever reason.
