True I guess, I guess it is rather difficult to be a devout man of any faith. I am appalled by the story of the young woman being beaten for here beliefs... Noone should be physically harmed for thoughts. I do not mean to impose but shouldn't you not think about others judgement because I thought Christians are not supposed to judge others or who gets into hell or not. I have no complaint with you being evangelical since you are spreading the love of Christ I presume? And not trying to fear people into believing what you believe or that they will be eternally damned and scare them into conversion? Atleast I hope not! Anyways I am glad you can be friends with people of different faiths and backgrounds.The difficulty depends upon the context of the individual and the degree to which you wish to live up to your belief.
As an example, a Christian friend of mine went to Russia to become a missionary. During his first 6 months or so he struggled with extreme loneliness because he simply did not know the language well enough to even carry on a conversation. However, he pushed through because of his love of Christ to strive to learn the language, learn about the people, and share Christ with them.
I also know of a young lady from East Asia who upon becoming a Christian was severely beaten by her boyfriend. Regardless of her difficulty, she persevered forward because of her love of Christ.
Though I do not face true persecution, I myself struggle with the belief that some of my friends and family may very well go to hell. I do not evangelize simply because I am told to do so but because I do not wish those I love to face the torment that we all deserve. I do not even know for certain whether my dad is a believer. He's a good man, yes, but I have heard the name of God come out of his mouth more out of anger than out of praise.
As a simple example of my anguish, after hanging out with several friends of mine, a homosexual friend of mine bought me my meal. At that moment I realized that he was not simply an evangelistic project of mine but a friend. The entire drive home that night I cried and pleaded with God to save my friend.
