I disagree although I do see where you're coming from. By the time this installment of the Kingdom Hearts series is released the PS3 will have already experienced a discount or two; the price of the console will not be as high as you stated. In addition, I believe the target audience of the Kingdom Hearts series is much broader than just kids.

I think the PS3 is the rightful home of the major future Kingdom Hearts games because it all began on the PS2.

Get MGS2: Substance and MGS3: Subsistence no doubt. If you don't, then you'll feel like you're missing out even if you don't take full advantage of all of the extras.  In the long run, you'll regret not getting them even if you do end up saving a bit of money in the short run.

For me, a cutscene can have a similar purpose as a movie trailer: to initially excite the player/viewer.

An effective opening FMV can do wonders to attempt to fully immerse me into the story of the game and can make or break a game in that sense.  For example, the opening cutscene for Onimusha 2 always gets me in the mood.

I think that cutscenes are essential for a game.  They can equally serve as rewards or hooks to grab the attention of the player.

Finish DQ VIII first. But, I'm not a good one to offer an opinoin; I still haven't beaten it. I'm quite a bit past the Dark Ruins - I've worked quite a bit on item creation, leveling up, and the monster arena. I've put ALOT of time into the game - around 140 hours.ffgameman

If that's true then I've got at least 100 hours left :(

  1. Finish Dragon Quest VII. I'm just about to enter the Dark Ruins after powering up my sun mirror.
  2. Get all scenarios for Onimusha 2. I've finished a first play through with all the obtainable scenarios for Ekei.
  3. Begin Onimusha 3.
  4. Finish Fatal Frame 3. I'm only one chapter into the game.

I've also got MGS2: Subsistence, Hitman: Blood Money, God Hand and Shadow Hearts: From the New World on the way.

So what should I do in order to maximise my time and fun?

At the moment I'm playing:

Dragon Quest VIII - Don't know how much longer I can stand of it... 70-some hours in and still no end in sight

Onimusha 2 - Just about to go for a second playthrough

Fatal Frame 3 - Again, I'm already fed up with this game
