Personally, I think it's still too early to judge. Of course, when the PS3 was first announced, I was ecstatic, and am currently dissapointed. I think multi-format releases form a part of this. Because most next-gen games are available across the three systems, there's not enough incentive for me to buy one over the other (especially in the PS3's case).

I say give it time. Once developers are able to take more advantage of a system's hardware, the software quality will undoubtedly increase.

You've got some great games on that list, but I think you should also add:

  1. MGS2
  2. MGS3
  3. Resident Evil 4
  4. Devil May Cry 3
  5. Zone of the Enders
  6. Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner
They're not all exclusives, but you'll be missing out if you haven't played them yet...

Which game left you breathless?

There are definitely a few of those out there but I'm definitely going to go with Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.

Back when it was first released, the amount of detail that they packed into it seemed especially astounding. I must have spent hours shooting glass bottles and watching ice melt.

It arguably set the PS2 a new milestone in gaming achievement.

How about you all? Let's try to keep major spoilers to a minimum or clearly mark them for everyone's benefit.

Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner

MGS3 comes as a close second though. I'm a big sucker for plot twists and MGS3's ending just blew me away.

I'd go with the Fatal Frame series.  Never in a game have I felt so vulnerable.  This game encourages you to "attack" a ghost at the last possible second for maximum damage (making some fights quite nerve-wracking).  It also has the best atmosphere in my humble opinion.

I've done that with all of the Onimusha series. The only one I've played as of yet is Onimusha: Blade Warriors... :?

MGS and ZOE: The 2nd Runner.

I would call it... Metal Gear of the Enders: Sons of Dingo (and Ken)

Don't forget Syphon Filter!

And with some great games coming up, I don't think it would be wise to sell it just yet. *drools* Castlevania: Dracula X...

I'm curious as to what others have to say. I'm quite divided on this issue.

Turn-Based RPGs like Dragon Quest VII, with it's charming and lovingly animated monsters, fights do not feel like such a chore for me. However, I did not particularly enjoy FFX's fights. Fine, call me crazy.

Combat in games like Kingdom Hearts tends to be interesting for a while, but eventually becomes a button-mash fest.

I'm more inclined to say that a combination of both is the best, but at this moment in time, I'm going to side with non Turn-Based.

In terms of gameplay and story, it's definitely Metal Gear for me.

However, in terms of sheer shock value, I'm going to go with the Kingdom Hearts series.

Seriously, was anyone expecting the secret unlockable video in KH2 to be like that?! That got me excited like nothing else... which is somewhat pathetic to be honest.
