FredGoon's 2008 Awards and Final Farewell

Well as everybody else (IGN, Gamespot, Gametrailers and Nintendo Offical Magazine) have done or are in the process of doing there game awards I'd thought I'd do mine now instead of waiting for the end of December, wellhere it goes.

Most enjoyed family game of 2008

Nominee's

  1. Wii Sports
  2. Wii Fit
  3. Mario Kart Wii
  4. 42 All-Time ****cs
  5. The Darkness? (Couldnt think of anything else :P)

And the winner is Mario Kart Wii!

Mario Kart of any kind is the only game my dad, mum, sister and me all enjoy playing toegther and this time it was no diffrent. We spent hours and hours and hours and tens of more hours playing it toegther. Its slowed down abit now but hopefully it willcome back!

Most Anicipated game of 2008

Nominee's

  1. Secret Agent Clank
  2. Little Big Planet
  3. Mirrors Edge
  4. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patroits
  5. Mario Kart Wii

The winner is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patroits!

Well I dont think that is a suprise to anybody and I had to actully think hard about other games i got exited about. But yes I have been really looking forward to MGS4 this year, and last year......and the year before that lolz. And it happily develived and is one of my favorite games ever.

Most played game of 2008

Nominee's

  1. Metal Gear Online
  2. Mario Kart Wii
  3. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
  4. Rathet and Clank: toolsof Destruction
  5. flOW....

The winner is The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion!

Some may think of this as unfair as I dont have that game I have Game of the year edition but I wont count my time in Shivring Isle (Which was about 9 hours ish) But that still dosnt even phase my time spent on it above all others. Infact even if you halfed it again and again it wouldnt even come close to losing this award. I must have spent over all of my profiles 350 Hours + on this game, and still growing by the day. In second was MGO which only had about 60 ish, so yea Oblivion wins!

Best buy of 2008

Nominee's

  1. Conkers Bad Fur Day
  2. Mario Kart Wii
  3. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patroits
  4. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
  5. DS Lite

Now this is a tough one, I actully sat and tried to think what I felt as I played it for the first time and what was going through my head, also wieghing in cost and how much i wanted it. To win it isn't how much i enjoyed the game all the way through to the end or how much of a good game it is, but meerly how I felt as I finnaly popped it in for the 1st time and played it for the 1st time. The winner my friends is........................... Conkers Bad Fur Day!

Surprised? Well I thought I would be, but I am not,I mean how does this game compete with a game I have waited for since 2005 (MGS4) or a game which I got addicted to? (Oblivion) Well I can't explain the feeling that went through me as It came in the post, I had been waiting for this game since before I started my N64 Mission, even if i want on the mission to get every single one I would still have got it. I was just so happy, when i first played it I couldnt stop smiling, it was just such a experaince, so hurrah for Conker!

Worst buy of 2008

Nominee's

  1. God of War
  2. Limted Edition Zelda Game Boy SP
  3. Turok (PS3)
  4. Secret Agent Clank
  5. MySims (DS)

The Winner Is MySims for the DS

Well most of the games I bought in 2008 I enjoyed, the only other 2 games I can think of adding to that list is Timeshift and Elecktro Plankton since i dont count N64 games since even though some of them are bad I was still happy to buy them because of my mission. SecretAgent Clank was on there not because of the game itself, its because of the PSp and that I hate it and I never play it cos its much to hard to control. But yea MySims DS is just utter rubbish! Truth be told i haven't given it that much of a chance, but comon wheres all that fancy building stuff! No all you do is that stupid social minigames, just utter rubbish.

Console of 2008

Nominee's

  1. DS Lite
  2. N64
  3. Nintendo Wii
  4. PS3
  5. PSP...

It was a close call between the N64 and PS3 but the Winner is the Playstaion 3!

Well this has been my 1st year with the console, and I originally onky got it for MGS4 and RAC but I got into many new games such as Oblivion, Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, Heveanly Sword and The Darkness just to name a few. It truely has been a good year for the PS3, and this xmas my only game presants wil be PS3 games so its gonna get better. Now what we have all been waiting for...

GAME OF 2008!

Nominee's

  1. Mario Kart Wii
  2. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patroits
  3. Conkers Bad Fur Day
  4. Metal Gear Online
  5. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Now this was a tough one, just to make it easier for heres this. In 5th Place came Metal Gear Online, in 4th Place came Conkers Bad Fur Day, in3rd place came Mario Kart Wii. And now, in 2nd place for Game of 2008 is...........Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patroits! Making The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion FredGoon's Game of 2008

This was just a tough tough TOUGH choice to make, I mean in a way I know that I like MGS4 more, and next year if nothing more comes out it will be my Game of 2009 but thats not what a game of the year is. I belive a game of a year should be a game which you spend most time playing, get addicted to in some point in the year and just love it to bits. Now Oblivion ticks all those box's, if you dont understand let me go further.

Now Oblivion is not a better game than MGS4, if I was to chose what game should be destroyed or not it will be Oblivion gets destroyed and MGS4 dosnt. But thats because I love each game diffrently ina diffrent way. Eventully I will Get bored of Oblivion, and put it aside for mabey a couple of months or never again, but with MGS4 I will never get bored of it, Never! I mean just look at MGS1, i still play that regulaly and I enjoy that more than Oblivion. But for 2008 I enjoyed Oblivion alot more, more than I enjoyed MGS4. This boils down to the fact that I wasn't expecting what Oblivion trew at me, it was a tottaly random buy, while I was fully prepared for MGS4, and watched a couple of leaked cutscnes before MGS4's release. So thats why MGS4 is my Game of 2008!

Goals of 2008

  • Obtain a Nintendo Wii
  • Obtain an iPod
  • Have a more Nintendo Orianted Year
  • Obtain a new phone
  • Pass my childcare course
  • Learn to drive?
  • Have lots of MGS Marathons
  • Have fun!

Final Farewells

It has been a good couple of years, I joined Agust the 6th 2006 and i offical quit on the 23rd of December. I will still vist gamespot occasionally reading up on what happens to all my friends but that is it, i shall be not posting any new blogs, commenting on anybody elses or going to any unions. as of now I resign from my unions, I hope they contuine to grow. I will only post blogs to update any contact infomation, so when i get a new Wii expect a new number. You can however contact me on my PSN - Hizang or my Myspace - Sir William.

Seya Guys!!! Have a Merry Christmas and a happy life!!!

Gamespot, It's been Qwarktastic! 2006-2008

I'm leaving Gamespot, but this time I'm doing it propperly

I am here to say that well,I will be leaving Gamespot on the 31st of December 2008 after I post up my 2008 awards. Quite frankly if it wasn't for those, I would leave right now.

Well my reasons for leaving Gamespot are not what you think, it isnt because I dont like gamespot or I am moving to another site because I think its better. The reason is quite simply I have lost intrest in internet gaming communitys sites such as Gamespot and Giant Bomb. You see I used to post blogs like every day, but now I seem to just not care anymore. Also at times I have found myself enjoy talking about the games more than actully playing the games themselves, which to me just seems wrong so thats one reason.

The Second reason is I find myself less intrested in "games" now, which is somthing i would never hear myself say. The big fault behind this is MGS4, and suprising enough it all started with MGS2. You see before Gamespot I knew nothing about the gaming world, all i knew was that they were fun and you could by them in games shops. Heck after xmas 2000 I belive I went into a game shop and asked is MGS2 out yet! I actully didnt care about any of these release dates of things or anything about the developers or these internet forums or anything, I just enjoyed playing games.

When MGS3 was released I hungered for more, before this the onkly series of games I had been into were Spyro and Crash, and I didnt really care when the next one was out I just got it when it did. I didnt care when the next game of a series was out It just didnt phase me if a game I liked got a 1 year delay, not that i would know anyway. But after MGS2's cliffhangerish ending I really wanted to know when the next one would be out, so I typed in MGS2, the site that came up was Gamespot.

As soon as I came on I was amazed by all peoples comments on the games and the reviews it got (Heck I didnt even know games got reviews!) I didnt join starting away, i just looked through the rumuors of a MGS4. It was that which got me to join. I then began posting blogs and soon they grew bigger and bigger and bigger untill eventully I was writing my own reviews, making vidoes, joining unions and becoming leaders of the unions! Life was diffrent from then on then, I was obsessed with the gaming media side of things, Infact when a new game came to my possession I would write a blog to say I got it first then readall about it then play it. Then MGS4 arrived, my reason for being on gamespot, which droove alot of my blogs.

After it my blogs started to deteriorate and become less and less, my videos stopped as did my reviews and activity in unions, now I find Gamespot a chore to go on, which is a clear sign of quitting. I also since joining college enjoying more things like going out, hanging with friends, Myspace and reading. I still enjoy games, I still get up at 5:00 to play games for hours and have gaming marathons, but back then that was all i really liked doing, now I have so much more.

As I said I wont leave until my awards, so look forward to then, if you wish to stay in contact I'll put my Myspace page up later, also Hizang is my PSN account.

Well Seya Real Soon! (Triva note, Seya Real Soon has appeared in more than 150 of my blogs)

Club Nintendo

So as I plan to get a Wii early next year i was thinking i should be well prepared, even though I own one already i dont know much about its features and the like as my use of it is limited. So I decided to read in guides of games and such, and in Mario Party 8 I found this code, this code can be put into Club Nintendo for star points whatever they were. Anyway i checked my Wii games and DS games and alot of them had codes aswell, although some were used so didnt.

Anyway I then input what codes I could onto the site, I ripped quite a few though but out of all my DS and Wii games I managed to input 6 Games, which gave me 2200 Star Points. I didnt know what to do with these untill I looked in The Stars Catalog, and boy am i happy now!

The Star Catalog is where you exchange the star points for actual items ifor real life, not some virtual rubbish. You have Soundtracks to games, keyrings, varoius clothing items, plush toys and a couple of games. they even have a limited edition golden statue of Link. You can also get Wii Points off there, I could have gotten 500 Wii Points for 2000 Star Points (I had 2200) but it was hard setting that up as you download it direclty to the Wii console so I though naaah.

I wanted to get the Wii Fit Wristband but they were out of stock, I really wanted the Super Mario Galaxy Platinum soundtrack but it was 4850 points, I also could have bought the Cooking guides Chef hat aswell and it was cheap at 1000 Points, but in the end I swayed towards the Wii fit selection which was quite big.

They had Wii Fit Sunglasses for 2700, Wii Fit Flip Flops for 4000, Wii Fit Sun Hat for 3000, Wii Fit Winter Scarf for 2500 (So Close) and a Wii fit Cooling bag for 3000. So you see I couldnt afford any of it! The wristband was out of stock and I had no idea when it would come back, but I looked again and found the Wii Fit Winter Hat for 2200, Perfect! So I placed my order and it should arrive in 1-8 weeks.

So what if I may be waiting for 8 weeks I'm technically speaking geting somthing for free that cannot be gained anywhere else! Its a rare Wii Fit Collectable then, and I dont have to pay! It seems very odd to me this site that they can afford to give stuff away for pretty much free. I tottaly reccomened this site to everybody who has lots of Wii/DS games as there are lots to chose from. Ever wanted NES Classic Notebooks? Mabey a Mario Game Rack? Or heck even some DS wrapping paper (For 300 Points XD)

Yes so i reccomend it to everybody and anybody, when I get a new Wii I'll be sure to buy as many cheap games I can find that are new so I can input tcodes to get the full Wii Fit attire! Although a word of warning, the codes can only be input once, so thats why if its a used copy of a game the code may have already been enterned.

MGS Game Confirmed!

In an official press release today, Konami of Europe revealed that Metal Gear Solid Touch would be heading to the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch early in the New Year. According to the release, "Metal Gear Solid Touch focuses on action elements of Hideo Kojima's classic stealth series, and will see series veteran Solid Snake embark on an all-new mission." It won't be a completely new experience for MGS fans however, with players "using locations and characters introduced in Konami's Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots including eight action-packed stages, with more to be added at a later date."

I am actully quite annyoyed, I don't want another MGS game with Snake in it, he is supposed to be in retuirement. But I'm relived that its not on the 360, good show!

Flu and 2008 Awards

Greetings, well just a blog to say that I have caught the dreaded flu. Now I think this is the sickest I have ever been, I've had it since Friday and I even got sent home from Placement! I feel just awfull, i have a headache, achy all over, bad cough, dizziness and I just feel crap :p. I really do not like it lolz, although it did give me some quality time with my games.

Well on Friday I played Oblivion, I finished my Skingrad House quest, very expensive! And then joined the mages guild and completed all the reccomendation quests. On Sunday I played a heck load of Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction and Mario Kart Wii. And today i picked up on my MGS marathon and completed MGS1, I started today just after escaping the torture scene and I finished it from theer in one sitting. And in a minite I'm gonna start MGS2.

So yea I also had some time to think about my 2008 Awards, last year my Awards took lots of planning and checking of recipts lolz and this year is no diffrent. gotta check in what order I got the games, and if I gave any away and my status on the games themselves. Anyway here are my catagorys. Games I bought/status of them/possibly given away. Most used console, least used console, most played game, least played game, best purchuse, worst purchuse, Most Viewed MGS Video, Least Viewed MGS Video,My personal favorite MGS Video and Ofcourse Game of the Year.

They may change or may not but expect it on the 31st of Dec.

Home Beta impressions

Well the Home beta was released yesterday and I've had some hands on, after all these years was it worth the wait?

Well the simple answer was yes, it really does deliver and this is just the beta! However if your hoping to create a avatar like yourself look elsewhere, its very hard so its best just to make sombdoy else or randomise. The game itself is pretty damn fun and it is a great way to socialise with friends. I really do like the atmosphere of the whole tjing and I really do like the games in the bowling alley!

I also got My Word Coach Today, pretty cool, but its just meh!

What a weekend...

Well as you may recall I posted a blog on Friday saying I had £19.00 and I was gonna go buy somthing, well in the end I went with theme Park for the DS which was £14 somthing. Well after that I chceked my bank accoun t to only find I had -£0.88! How on erath did that happen, well i didnt really have £19.99 I had £13.12 because I purchused MEME,which i complety forgot about!

So over the weekend I've had calls and letters from the bank claiming for there money and I have had a whole weekend of trying to cancel my order which thankfully now happend and its all been a huge mess!!!

So yea, I won't be getting Theme Park then, Seya!

MEME and Money

Ok well after much waiting i was able to get the MEMEexpansion pack, and I gotta say i am impressed. First of I want to say it supasses the GENEexpansion in almost every way, the best part about it though is the maps. Now my favorite would have to be Sunset Silo, it is a remake of one of my favorite maps from MGSPO, so I naturally knew my way around it. My next favorite would be Winter Warehouse, it has such a nice element of sneaking as it is really dark inside so thats good. I also love the Forest one, (Forget the name) as it reminded me so much of MGS3.

Ok with the extra stuff the items and that were ok but I dont care much for them, the characters however are much better than Meryl or Johnny. Meling is my favorite so far, but I havent been able to play as Ocelot yet =, just in training mode. Meling's special abilty to call apon her battleship is very cool.Plus when she does that dance it makes enemys stop in there tracks, very cool. Ocelot is great too though, he has the SOP system under his control and can lock out all wepons which is uber cool, he also has that impressive gun too.

Ok so yea the MEME rocks! Now onto my money issue, i want to save up for my Wii but I think I'll startafter xmas, as I really want somthing to keep me going up untill xmas, I'm gonna brose Amazon today and probbaly buy somthing, who knows what it'll be but just gotta wait and see.

See You Real Soon!

Okami and Money Update

Ok well heres an update on Okami.

I still really like the game and so far have put in 3 hours and 35 minites, so its not bad, but I have been getting up very early but its all good good. The only problem that I have that is I sometimes don't know where to go or what to do, the Journel isnt much help but apart from that its all good.

On the terms on money I bought one thing, it wasnt even for me, it was a book called "Thats not my monkey" for the children at placement. i am coming up to my last times with them, I'm so gonna miss them. But I hope they enjoy tye book when I give it to them. I also want to buy the MGO Expansion pack meme, but there having problems with the site so i cant yet buy it.

Well seya Real Soon!
