I'm trying to beat all the Ci'eth missions but I can't seem to get onto a chocobo, how can you gain access to them?

I already have a PS3 and have been pondering whether to get a 360 arcade seeing as they are the cheaper option and I can use the online service. Are there any advantages to getting the Elite edition except for the hard drive and are arcade models more prone to RROD?

EDIT: Also do arcades have HD output?
