Bought it during the lightning sale last week and I have really been loving the world and characters. The game play is kinda clunky but everything else keeps me playing. I do hope they give this IP another chance.
While I do feel the quality in the artists has improved in the years, I feel like the writing still has a way to go. Good drama is great and all, but too often (as I heard in here in spots), these writers are double dipping and quickly moving into the melodramatic- which for me takes me out of the experience. I get that they want to make their characters come off as witty or deep or intelligent, but the key to pulling that off is knowing when to tap into that part of the character, otherwise the character sounds like a tool, or comes off as obnoxious. Real smart/interesting people do not talk like that all the time. The tryhards that do are just that.
The leveling is what annoys me, especially for the more rare pokemon. I caught I Charizard today and was ecstatic, now imagine my disappointment when I checked his CP- 105 measly CP. What am I supposed to do with that, when I have only found one charmander since I started playing? Funny thing is that one charmander I found at least had 139CP LOL
@heydink: I dunno, I get the feeling that if these rumors prove true Sony will push developers to really make the 'neo' versions shine. They will want to show off its capabilities, especially with the imminent release of VR. Plus at the end of the day they don't want to just attract new customers, but also push old ones to upgrade.
As a current PS4 owner I feel like it's gonna hurt those like me the most. Not because we will miss out on better frame rate/resolution/graphics, but because developers will direct most of their attention on perfecting the new platform's version and neglect the 'low end version.' We're gonna get stuck with buggy, awful running sloppy seconds.
