@zezyan: That's not true at all dude. What the hell are you talking about? If the input lag is universal then someone doing a 3 frame jab would mean that from the button press the jab wouldn't complete until both the input delay and animation frames are finished. If there was no input delay that would mean that the jab would complete after the 3 frame animation. In order to block a 3 frame attack you would need to input block before the 3rd frame of the animation. Which is already hard and almost not possible due to human input time. I don't know the math but i'm sure you would have a really hard time trying to reaction block a jab.
Let me try this.
Without input delay, in order to block a 3 frame jab, you'd need to input block within 3 frames of when the button is pressed.
With in put delay, you'd need to input block before the 3 frame jab gets to your character. To do this you would need to input block within 3 frames of when the button is pressed.
So I understand what you mean, you can't react and block after the animation has started but at that point you'd already be passed 3 frames late anyways. With no lag you'd have to know exactly when someone pressed a button for you to react. At that time you'd instantly react with a block. The problem is that as a human you won't have time to even visually see a jab and press block within 3 frames. The only way to block a 3 frame attack is to already be blocking. So even with input lag it wouldn't matter because the amount of time from button press to block is still 3 frame and without it there it's still not possible to do, let alone dodge or counter without just guessing. This is why mashing Zangief super on wakeup will catch anyone within rang no matter what because it has a 1 frame startup. It's not possible to react to that. You can only predict it.
@mike468: Not that it matters much to your whole point but the latest Virtua Fighter game came out in like 2007 on PS3. I don't think he was comparing the new Tekken 7 to like Virtua Fighter 2 or something. It was just an example of a game that no one complained about.
@blackamerica: You do realize that this isn't a problem with Tekken but with SFV? No one is complaining about any input lag with and Tekken game. Even if there is any no one is complaining. It's just simply Street Fighter V that this has become an issues. Not only does he not owe you any answers but it's not even his problem. He was asked about it and gave a response.
Now you may not like Tekken and that's fine but to be completely toxic and not even read what the problem is pretty sad. You obviously hate Tekken more than you would like to make sense. It's fine to have a preferences but to run around this thread talking shit about the game is a bit excessive.
@Tricked03Hemi I didn't say his comment was wrong. It's just nit picking like little kids. We can all sit here for ever and say that it stole this, or took that. If you gonna complain about it then so be it. Just don't play anymore games that let you aim down the sights with the left trigger and shoot with the right. That's stolen. Don't play any game that lets you move with the left stick, and look with the right.
Seriously, TitanFall is gonna be compared, I get it. Just don't say they stole anything. I can nit pick that too. COD steals what... double jumps from Titanfall, TitantFall steals jetpacks from Halo, Halo steals it from Tribes, Unreal Tournament had Double Jumps... Hold up though, he coined invisibility to Halo? Ok no other games let you go invisible before Halo? Right, ok. Let's move on to "levolution" I don't got much to say. BF pretty much did this first with multiplayer... well at least to that scale. Will we see falling buildings in CoD matches though? Probably not. I can argue that Smash bros did this first but that would be stupid now wouldn't it? You know the stages that change while you fight. There are walls to break and stuff to interact with there to. It's just stupid to point out.
You get me? We all know that these "ideas" come from somewhere. It's just that no one has put them all together. Will it work? That's yet to be determined. Like I said, i'm all for them mixing up the formula with other stuff. At least we all can say it ain't a rehash.
@stagethree leveloution - whack ass term for changing environments
double jump - any platform game that lets you do that
invisibility - any game that lets you turn invisible.
You comment is looking original as ever.
We get it, these things have been done. Have they been all put together? Nope. Dose it make a good game? That's yet to be determined I'm all for a little fps soup though.
