@illegal_peanut: this stratification of studio vs execs is just too weird to me. Every time a game releases broken everyone says it’s not the devs, it’s the executives. Well, they are the same company in the end. Im not saying they are equally at fault, but there’s always a moral hazard here. When Redfail released, the devs said they wanted the game to be cancelled and the execs still wanted to move on with the production. Is this also the same? Im not saying you’re suggesting they are the same or anything like that, not at all, you’re just appropriately explaining your take whilst accordingly providing verifiable info and i thank you for that. But im expressing this thought because i find it perplexing that the line that could separate devs from execs is always moved to one side or the other more favourably depending on the situation. I mean, if the devs dont want the game and the execs do, imo the devs are at fault because it’s their job, that would be the case for MS and their RF fiasco. Here it might be the opposite, but the question remains: how can we be certain? 🤔
@tidus_ff: many thanks for sharing. Im playing it for the first time now, 2.0 patched, and im getting a very similar impression. My fav games are MGS and FF (the classics and yeah ill admit 16 was an honest effort to make a good story and i respect that) and i guess the bar for quality when it comes to storytelling and character development is terribly low these days. Any game with cool characters or graphics is a "great and deep story"…very sad. Thanks for sharing your approach, i really enjoyed your take on this topic. Happy little-Friday! :)
@clockworkengine: for real, im really happy you loved the game. In the end, the world doesn’t turn around me, and as long as other people enjoy products i believe thats always a wonderful thing. I wish i can someday like it at least half as much as you do. Happy Sunday!😊
EDIT: for example, i never like Mario Odyssey, but everyone does. Im happy for everyone regardless. Also, Majoras Mask was amazing, it was like Chrono Cross to Chrono Trigger, different but amazing nevertheless 🥹
@illegal_peanut: haha *shutters*, very funny, thanks. And yeah, hes supposed to come from humble beginnings. But this time around imo they made him a royal knight as a means to circumvent character development. He doesn’t even need to train with a sword or anything like that. He just knows everything from the start because hes already a knight. For example, back in WW and TP you have to learn skills and start from the bottom. In the end, im just saddened by the current state of storytelling here.
And yeah, those Switch games be too expensive bruh, dayumn 😆
