Ok well I'm about to order the parts for my machine, so I'll give you guys a rundown of what I still need advice for.

Intel i7 2600 OR 2600k. Is the 2600k that much of an improvement?

Intel "Burrage" MIB (What do you think of this one?)

A GeForce GX560ti (how does this guy perform?)

Gigabyte Sumo Alpha Case and Gigabyte Odin 720 PSU (Should a pay a little extra and go for the Odin 550gt PSU instead?)

Just get a gaming desktop and a cheap laptop for general use. Gaming laptops are expensively impractical.

Honestly, if you think PC hardware is a "hassle" maybe you should stick to consoles. PC gaming is for those who enjoy building and customizing PCs.

I'm coming back home from the consoles and though I'm sure you always get this thread. I need advice.

first off, I really like the idea of a lap-top for portability and low admin, whereas a Desktop is a hassle and and stays in one place.

I'm thinking of getting an Alienware M14x, can anyone tell me what they realllly think?

Apart from that if I had to get a desktop ( 1200$-1000) what would you suggest? For both prebuilt and builiding?

Well anyone who's played HF knows that you can have fun in the MP, but not for longer than 5 minutes.
