Quake 4 was better than Doom 3. I've played through Quake 4 at least twice, maybe three times. Doom 3, just once. Also, Rage was pretty great and The Best shooting mechanics of any game, ever.
They definitely shouldn't leave the business. Sony and Microsoft are doing nothing new, and offering nothing we can't get from a PC. We need someone else, a third party, to shake things up and bring us new, bold ideas. No one can argue that PS4 or Xbox One offer anything bold.
Shattered Memories is the best the series. Really wish we'd get a proper sequel to it. Love how subtle things you do have this huge effects on the game, such as versions of characters and the ending. Brilliant.
I appreciate Gamespots reviews much more so than most review outlets. Certain that awful and embarrassing IGN. They're like the frat boys of video game journalism. And don't get me started on their awful site design. Gamespot can sometimes fall prey to hype, as we all can. Just look at the Halo series, or the Call of Duty series. Do those really measure to their scores? Of course not. I think Gamespot should consider re-reviewing games that have been significantly updated. TF 2 is 10x the size and depth of the original Orange Box release, for instance. These reviews should focus on whether people who were hold outs should re-consider getting the game.
Look, this is silly. The difference is in play, in motion. Yes, there is only a subtle difference in still, greatly shrunken screen shots, but anyone that plays it in a high res on Dx 10 and then on Dx 9 can tell you there is a very noticeable difference. We need to get past this idea that graphics are only about screen shots, ie still images. Dx 10 is mostly about improved animations, dynamic shaders, dynamic lighting, etc. You really need to play it to see experience the difference.
