I think I might just go with what you guys said, and build my own computer instead. However, I wanted to show you guys my components, do I just list them out here or is there a better way to do it?
Well subtract the cost of the "free xbox" and it costs around $620 Which I guess isn't bad for a prebuilt but its not great either. And to answer your question, yes you can upgrade the GPU later on, but depending on what one you want you'll have to upgrade the power supply as well. gmaster456
I'm pretty sure the computer itself is $820. Because the base components start out at $749.99. All I did was the base customization, and after adding the tax, the total price comes around at $820. Though the XBOX itself is free, it's not included as part of the original computer cost. It's after you buy the computer itself.
Thanks for the replies, but what I really wanted to know was if I do get this desktop, can I upgrade my graphics card without upgrading everything else? For example, if I decide to upgrade to the AMD Radeon HD 6850, do I have to upgrade the PSU, motherboard, and stuff like that? Because if I have to, then I might as well build my own computer, and just ask you guys here on Gamespot for advice on components. I did pick out parts if I have to build my own computer, but then I saw this deal and wanted your opinion on it first.
Hi there! I'm looking to buy a pre-built computer from HP.com, although I wanted some advice before I did that. Mainly because HP has a promotion where if you buy a PC you get a free XBOX 360. Now I sold my 360 around a month ago (yes, I know huge mistake), but it's a long story and so I did. Now I've mostly just been playing off my friend's 360 and I wanted to get my own again. I also wanted a good PC to play Witcher 2, and other PC games coming out at high quality, because my current laptop sucks really bad. Okay now on the computer. These are the specs that I'm looking at when I finish customizing it. Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2300 quad-core processor [2.8GHz, 6MB cache] Memory: 6GB DDR3-1333MHz SDRAM [3 DIMMs] Hard Drive: 1TB 7200 rpm SATA 3Gb/s hard drive Graphics Card: 1GB DDR3 Radeon HD 6450 [DVI, HDMI. VGA adapter] OS: Windows 7 Home Premium Total Price: $820 (Included with XBOX 360) Now, I know that the graphics card is really weak. My main question is that in a pre-built computer such as this one, is it possible to upgrade the graphics card? After like a month, I was planning to buy a much better graphics card. I just wanted to know if this was possible, and any other advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks for helping me out! EDIT: Forgot to mention this, but I'm looking into a desktop. I realize laptops just won't have the power and desktops are better in the long run. I won't be doing that much PC gaming, but games like Witcher 2, WoW, Guild Wars 2, and the upcoming Star Wars game from Bioware are games that I'm looking forward to playing.
