[QUOTE="GatlingHammer"][QUOTE="Suzy_Q_Kazoo"]

My dad is near homophobic and is married, this situation is doubtful.

Suzy_Q_Kazoo

I'm sure that plenty of married homophobic men are still homosexual. Haven't you ever seen American Beauty?

No :(

Watch American Beauty.

Dude, have you read it yourself? What you posted discredits everything you're claming here.

worlock77

Discredits? Lol, just because something states something rationally and truthfully it automatically discredits huh? Not everything, especially in evidence based science is black and white. Ever hear of a thing called hip surgery? Do you think hip surgery is a completely riskless venture?

Jesus dude, read it. Go to page 8-9 for example and you'll see things like "the APA states psychotheraputic modalities to convert or "repair" homosexuality are based on developmental theories whoes scientific validity is questionable. Furthermore anecdotal reports of "cures" are counterbalanced by anecdotal claims of psychological harm. In the last four decades "repairitive" tharapists have not produced any rigorous scientific research to support their claims of cure."

Prove it.

[QUOTE="GatlingHammer"][QUOTE="xaos"] You mean how it says it is discredited and based on faulty assumptions? I agree, at least some people should read it!worlock77

If you don't want to read it you don't have to but at least be informed before you talk about it. It's only been 1 minute since I posted that link.

Here is the APA approved brochure on reparative therapy that we hand out to people interested in it at our church. It pretty much says everything and is backed up by the American Psychologists Association. Anyone who wants to learn about it should read it. :)

You hand them a leaflet that warns them of the dangers of the therapy whilst promoting it at the same time?

Of course! We have to provide the dangers of the therapy. Would you go to a doctor who didn't mention the possibilities or chances of side effects or mishaps? I wouldn't trust that doctor at all.
